These are 3 of the 300,000+ unreclaimed oil & gas wells in AB. Cleanup is estimated to cost as much as $130 BILLION, and our provincial govt wants to push those costs onto taxpayers instead of making companies pay. Learn more about this plan & how to stop it at CleanUpYourMess.ca #ABLeg #ABPoli

We’re not seeking wedding RSVPs to make sure we don’t pay for uneaten extra meals.

These are *vaccines* which prevent and reduce illness, disability and death. We should be seeking a vaccine for EVERYONE in Alberta. Bonus: it will protect the labour force and it’s great for business.

Good news: clarified message.
Bad news: here’s the message
“Pre-ordering for the 2026–2027 immunization season starts on Sept 29 and ends Dec 15. Pre-ordering helps secure vaccines, reduce wastage, and support responsible spending. Albertans can still book next year if they don’t pre-order.”

🚨 This is inexplicable news to share. If in Alberta and you want flu and covid shots for NEXT year (2026-2027), you have only until December 15 of THIS year to order them.

This is not incompetence. It’s a deliberate choice to prevent as many people ..

Tim Cartmell officially concedes the mayoral race, meaning Andrew Knack is slated to become Edmonton's 37th mayor.

When the election is long past and you still don't know who your councillor is, please remember it's because Danielle Smith's base doesn't like electronic vote tabulators (which are accurate, have been used for decades, and saved time and money).

The long count: Alberta communities prepare to tally ballots by hand | CBC News
Alberta municipalities are in for a long night — and in many cases, days — to complete the more complicated process of counting every ballot on election day by hand, rather than machine.

This is a metaphor that applies more broadly, too: pandering to a tiny minority of conspiracy-curious Albertans makes life objectively (and needlessly) worse for the rest of us.

Remember that. #abpoli

💯agree. I might say the voters could have, by showing up in droves & staying in line regardless of wait times. Thus, sending a strong message to this government that, regardless of their attempt to thwart democracy, we weren't having it. Unfortunately... we just played into their hands.

For more on why we need a full public inquiry, here's my post from earlier this year.

Not unlike AdScam, we have now entered a critical phase of the scandal: asking the unanswered questions.

The UCP quietly released the 3rd party report into CorruptCare on Friday afternoon, hoping it would get buried in news around the ATA strike and municipal elections.

Here's a reminder: Judge Wyant was given very narrow scope. The scandal involves wider political interference beyond policies.

What are DanielleSmith's options? What if she orders 51k striking teachers back to work and invokes the Notwithstanding Clause?

Just like former energy minister Sonya Savage's claims about the Allan report. And like Kenney's claims of exoneration when the RCMP declined to lay charges after their "investigation" into his UCP leadership campaign.

The party is more full of shit than all the feed lots in Alberta. #AbLeg
Premier Danielle Smith’s claims about the Wyant report into the Alberta Health Services contract scandal are contradicted by the report itself. #abpoli

But municipalities don't have unlimited funding. This is another example of the GoA downloading the costs of many of its policies (in this case its luddite approach to selected elements of technology) on to municipalities.
It's Smith and Smith alone that has to wear this shit show.
They’ll blame the municipalities…and I don’t think it will be entirely unjustified. They knew the rules and the date. In the case of my polling place more staff could have moved things along more quickly. And I know at least one person who applied to work the election and was never contacted.

Solidarity with those persevering to vote today. We voted in the advance polls but I was still amazed at the physical paperwork involved; hadn't thought thro the consequences of election day.
Do remember at next election who is responsible for this shit show: Ms Smith and @albertaucp.bsky.social

When the government gets to vet who can run in an election, you know you are not living in a democracy.
🔥🔥🔥 Congratulations #bluejays !!!

As long as you’re in line by 8 p.m., you’ll be allowed to vote — so don’t leave the line!

Thanks to all the election workers and volunteers helping make today possible.

The lines may be long and the process a bit slower than usual, but it’s always worth it to have your say in our democracy.

I’m so mad. Our voting line is over 2.5 hours long. People are leaving. Parents don’t have childcare during the strike. Kids can’t wait that long.

Check on your neighbours. Offer childcare. Bring an extra camping chair and toque and water for someone in line.

Only the "serious"... Who gets to decide? How will they decide ~ a test? a survey? a frontal lobotomy? a pledge to dear leader? You know who isn't serious...this 🤬 s**t show of a gov't. #abpoli #ableg

What the …?

And you introduce the idea ON the day of a municipal election?

What problem is trying to be solved, here? “Democracy?”

Those of you standing in long lines for municipal elections in Alberta today:

1) stay in line; your voice matters
2) the long lines are a direct consequence of the conspiracy-driven policy changes brought forward by the UCP government (and not your beleaguered election workers); be kind
