This is one of the things that bothered me when they first started talking about Tr2n and how it would include modern computer technology "like the internet." My dude, Mr. Lisberger... the original movie's story *already assumes* a worldwide network. It doesn't work if you don't.

There's 3 conceits to Tron, a real-world one which has aged incredibly well and two fictional ones which... are fine.

1. The world is networked to a degree equaling or exceeding the current day.
2. Programs are complex enough to be self-aware.
3. Self-aware programs worship programmers as gods.
