White people are a trip.
New Maine Senate race poll shows Platner with 46% and Mills at only 25%.

The tattoo and Reddit controversies made 45% of those polled more likely to support Platner. Absolutely wild.
My other favorite was the person defending his comments about rape, because "maybe he didn't know any women in the army." 🙄

70% of working age SNAP recipients work full time. The companies should pay them a living wage! SNAP is corporate welfare.
May I present a former clerk to Justice Gorsuch.

it's crazy that if you're a cat, your only two life outcomes are eating out of a trash can or getting treated like a little baby
Yes, or as my Air Force officer family members (parents paid for the BA first) refer to them as "the grunts."
Did you know that over 1.3M active duty service members and veterans rely on SNAP benefits to feed themselves and their families?

Now you know.

In the Times today there’s an op-ed saying that childless women may have legitimate “private” reasons for declining to give birth. But one reason I have is not private but explicitly political: I want my life to serve as a rebuke to the notion that childbearing is women’s highest or truest calling.
In France, I had a guy at the gym start giving me unsolicited weight training advice, and when I told him to get lost, he followed me lecturing me about French values. 🙄
Absolutely, I maintain most don't *really* see it as harm or the victims worth being concerned about.
My mom (eldest daughter) did this with both elderly parents, and at one point TSA separated her mother with mid-stage Alzheimer's due to her metal knee. My poor mom was exhausted after that trip.

Men who sexually abuse or harass the women around them will also endorse other violent expressions of domination and impunity.

So much talk about "working-class" voters becomes a discussion of how to accommodate and reinforce misogyny and bigotry in order to win elections. "Working-class" in these discussions invariably means men (usually white men). If those are the voters you're trying to reach, just be honest about it.

Mahers vicious racism and Islamophobia has been on full display for decades now, the reality is that way too many American liberals and centrists are happy and comfortable with that racism; and they are all happy to abandon any number of women to ensure a Muslim man doesn’t become mayor.

And it has been long enough now for smart, honest people to know and do better.
That “working class” is a transparently race and gender coded term tells you who pundits view as low and middle income workers and what type of work they believe “counts” among this group.

Reality: the working class is predominantly White women and racial minorities in the low wage service sector.
Seriously--this and my PhD in film--It's intolerable.

As a woman who loves Sci-Fi, can confirm.
Any time some guy says he doesn't know women who are into sci-fi, he's basically telling on himself, because it usually just means they're avoiding him. 😂

I do not regret to inform you that we are going to win
For the Americans I know you don’t hear much global news but Ireland just elected Catherine Connolly as our president by a laaaaandslide ✊🏽

Yeah, even if he had expressed "regret," I am not going to vote for a Nazi who has said women deserve rape.
