My signal is annabower.24 if any other United States Attorneys want to text me!
EXCLUSIVE: One Saturday afternoon in October, my phone lit up with a notification.

I glanced down at the message.

“Anna, Lindsey Halligan here,” it began.

So began my text exchange with the woman who is prosecuting the president's perceived political enemies.

Donald Trump has spent over $2.5 billion in vanity projects while shutting down the government so we can kick over 10 million Americans off their healthcare.

Omg. Every local shop is out of poster board and markers and glue etc. you know what that means? George Soros was at my Office Depot!

I am completely awestruck by the ease with which Mike Johnson lies on a daily basis. I'll never understand how such a transparently fraudulent "man of faith" can live with themselves. Life is too short to be that phony.

Also not helpful when the editors at places like the NYT confirm they are ignorant as hell because they stay in the Nazi app

Writers Blake Dodge and Katherine Dee worry that Heather Cox Richardson isn’t allowing for the possibility that Trump has good and defensible reasons for all the things he’s doing. I worry I’m reading intellectual frauds serving malign interests.

The president of the United States posted a video of him defecating on the American people. Many in my profession normalized it. This is a big reason why we are where we are.

This is simple. Congress should not willingly pay the bills to fund the most serious assault on political freedom in our lifetime - an assault that may collapse democracy as we know it if we don't fight back.

ICE lied about the person it shot, claiming he was a "criminal," but NBC finds that he had no criminal history whatsoever. Not even traffic tickets in 12 years! It also lied about the extent of the injuries to its agents....

So much to mourn here. ICE shot and killed a single father just after he has dropped his two kids off at daycare. Their justification for stopping him was traffic violations form 12 years ago. Their justification for shooting him was that he was driving away.

A completely needless tragedy.

Thanks for all the kind words. I finally heard from my husband who is safe. He is being detained and it is not clear why he was detained or even if charges will be pressed.

Please pray for my family and if you can, reach out to your representatives and senators about this assault on our freedoms.

Trump is planning to hand farmers $10 billion in cash bailouts with taxpayer money—yet he values American farmers at only half the price of his Argentinian bailout.

I was really impressed with Ben's courage, eloquence and candor. He was one of the best guests I've ever had on the show. A genuinely kind and intelligent young man.

Love hearing an NPR reporter repeat Vought's line about "unconstitutional DEI principles" with nary a query about what the fuck that actually means. At some point we need journalists to make this administration explain some of these batshit utterances.

A serving member of the military might be court-martialed for saying in public what Trump did here.

(The entire *point* of super-quiet submarines is that adversaries do not know where they are. Navy goes to extreme lengths to conceal any clues to their location.)
Trump: "We were a little bit threatened by Russia recently, and I sent a submarine, nuclear submarine. The most lethal weapon ever made. Number one, you can't detect it."

Every major Democrat has millions in their campaign account. The threat to democracy is big enough that we need to be funding mobilization and messaging right now - not just banking money for the next election.

If we don't build right now, there might not be another election.
