"Wait a minute," Gale interrupted me, eyes big and concerned, and took my face in his hand while the other remained firmly on my waist. "Do you truly believe that this might not be real? That I'm not real?" I shook my head and stroke over his beard, felt the stubble of his hair, letting the sensation ground me.
"No, I know that you're real! I'm afraid that you feeling the same for me as I do for you is not. I'm not used to things working out for me as I want them to..."
My voice had gotten little and littler towards the end and I peeked through my lashes to see what Gale might think of me now, how tired was he of my antics?
But he only smiled and gently tilted my face upwards to his.
"I'm a master of illusions, remember?" he said with a playful glint in his eyes and leaned in closer.
"Allow me to prove to you that this isn't a dream but our new reality..."
I nodded. "Please do!"
And Gale kissed me, hungrily and devoted, making me yelp against him in surprise and from a quickly passing stinging pain as he sucked in my lower lip and bit down on it. He grinned.
"See? No dream!" he said, utterly pleased with himself. "You and I are still here, still together and I still love you more than anything!"
