Denial is always tricky, because it fails to explain the origin of a a behaviour, event, process, phenomenon.
It fails to give causes and effects.
So human, so old, so past.

Huge thanks to all the dedicated variant hunters who persevere with their crucial work away from the limelight, especially to Federico Gueli for his tips on new lineages, eg

Quick Sars cov2 variant update.
XFG.17.2.1 ( 219S 679R) is the fastest then there PE.1.4/PE.1.7 but still an Oceania only lineage.
After them some new designations are to watch XFG.10.4 first XFG designated with 435S
PQ.2.8.1 has S:H445P.

a bunch of new XFG designations spanning from 845S to 679R and 704L. B ut the most interesting one is PL.6 a LF.7.1.10 (445P) that got 478T and S:T500A, becoming the ifrst lineage with S:T500A to get a designation

i would say tha on XFG backbone 679R is the most convergent beneficial mutation right now

After 3 months, South Africa has uploaded another BA.3.2.2.

It has 3 mutations in common with the Australian samples, which we haven't seen outside of Australia before. T1195C, C2592T and T6856C. So, it probably migrated after it gained those.

It gained some extra mutations after that.

Here's the latest variant picture with a global scope, to late September.

XFG.* "Stratus" was higher at 73%.

NB.1.8.1 "Nimbus" fell to 18%.

The trickle of BA.3.2.2 samples from Western Australia has continued.

While the frequencies of this variant are still quite low, it’s ongoing spread (likely to many thousands of infections by now) gives it every opportunity to acquire the mutations it needs to succeed.

Attenuation of the SARS-2 furin-cleavage site (FCS) continues apace. It's beginning to look as if some form of FCS-weakening mutation might well become fixed in the near future. Collectively, they are at ~12% globally—a totally unprecedented level—& rising quickly. 1/4

i think the wave is gone quite globally, probably still up in Indonesia, Western Europe, central and Southern South America

Both emergency dept and wastewater data suggest a rapid decline in prevalence after a relatively modest summer peak. The lull in evolution continues... with no new fast variants close behind XFG.

That being said, we're still watching BA.3.2*

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

#BreastCancer is the most common cancer among women globally and represents approximately a quarter of all cancers that occur in women every year.
Breast cancer is highly curable if detected in its early stages and adequate treatment is provided.

with the last upload BA.3.2.2 represents 20% of samples collected in September in Western Australia. and 40% of the most recent ones. the tree shows no cluster involved so it is circulation

At 0:20, three agents pick him up and slam him head first into the ground. There is no justification for this, they were trying to seriously injure him

this man refused to combat and he was jailed , today he entered Gaza and see how IDF treated him.
And be sure HAMAS would have done the same.

This is what men of peace suffer right now in the world.

Here’s an op-ed I wrote arguing to get back to a focus on the relevant facts when it comes to pandemic origins.

I wrote it in response to a debate that’s played out over the last year in Norwegian media that rarely slows down to check what’s true and false.

Here’s the zoomed in view of their variant chart. BA.3.2.* rose sharply to 20.2% for the week ending 21-Sep-2025.

This is a small uptick from the prior week. BA.3.2.* grew the most in that week, from 7.9% to 20.2%, so is probably driving that change in momentum.
