Since there are some peeps coming here from Twitter, allow me to introduce myself:
I’m a GenXer who enjoys comics, books, manga, action figures, knitting, and cats. Not necessarily in that order. I’m also queer and liberal living in a Red State, so that’ll be fun.

(🧵) I’m going to say some things that may cost me followers. That’s only appropriate, given that what I say in this thread is about exactly that: how utterly meaningless everything is right now besides saving America—because without rule of law and democracy, nothing we dream of will ever come true.

Seen @realgdt.bsky.social's
Frankenstein twice now, don’t feel crazy saying Jacob Elordi's performance one of my favorite l've ever seen & heard in a movie. Karloff and Falconetti and Brando, a newborn and animal all at once. A monster makes audience members swoon & weep. My group txts say the same.
Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac on Netflix’s $120 Million ‘Frankenstein’ Gamble: 10 Hours in Makeup, a Misunderstood Monster and Why It’s Not a Horror Movie
Jacob Elordi and Oscar Isaac tell on 'Frankenstein' transformations and their admiration for Guillermo del Toro in a Variety cover story.

This has always been what he wants. So he can grab even more power and hang onto it for longer.
Fifteen presidents have invoked the Insurrection Act.

Trump claims one president used it 28 times in the course of a single presidency.

The Insurrection Act has been used a total of 30 times over the course of its 217-year history.
Trump: "I'm allowed as you know as president, like 50% of the presidents have used the Insurrection Act. Everybody agrees you're allowed to use that and there is no more court cases, there is no more anything. We're trying to do it in a nicer manner, but we can always use the Insurrection Act."

I'm not even a gambling man, but I'd put even money on the next words out of that guy's mouth being: "I say, old chaps..."
This photo accompanying a news story about the heist at the Louvre is perfection.

Gov. Pritzker: "It's clear Trump is trying to militarize our cities, and he's doing that with ICE now....He's also trying to just show off that he is in fact an authoritarian and can do whatever it is that he wants. But we're pushing back and we're winning."

The Invisible Man (1933 Film) small gray sketch. Our dog just had a $1500 lumpectomy so I wouldn’t mind getting a couple more of these $50 sketch orders. (plus $10 shipping)

I know it's funny how sweaty he is, but it must cause the body a lot of stress for him to suppress all the slurs in his head while speaking in public.

Thanks for the shout-out @hcrichardson.bsky.social! I found this fellow inspiring, too. I met so many cool, smart, funny people yesterday. It reminded me of the America I love.
At Oakland #NoKings, I asked Justin here if, as a Black man, he had particular concerns w the Trump admin's actions. Loved his answer.

Incredible stuff. Penguin and Club biscuits now have so little cocoa content their coating can no longer be described as “chocolate”.

I wrote this in May and little has changed. Meetings, diplomacy, press coverage. Then Trump reverts to his core stance: Russia deserves something for its aggression, and it's like totally unfair to Putin (and Trump) that Ukraine wants freedom and is able to keep Russia from taking it away.

A farce.
Opinion | The farce of Trump's Russia-Ukraine peace talks
America’s current leaders place the onus for peace on Ukraine, blaming the victim for the war.

Reminds me of when we were there during the Fourth and watched the fireworks on the Mall. Amazing experience, but the Metro to go back to our hotel was PACKED. And in the middle of summer too.
