DID MOMMY VANISH?

Many special boys couldn’t see her when she covered her eyes. Scientists say it’s time to consider whether they’re onto something.

Oddly enough—this is almost the exact same issue I have with Wicked (which becomes the near entirety of Wicked: For Good!).

The more it starts to force its connections to the extant thing, the more the emotional puppetry disappointingly reveals itself.
HAMNET: Stellar techs and an astonishing performance by Jessie Buckley. An engrossing first 2/3 that frays for me by the conclusion. The trust that Zhao and company have in both their material and their audience falters as we’re hand-held through its most melodramatic moments of historical fiction.
Feel like I’ve been waiting all year for this one! #NowWatching

Using this opportunity to share an underrated Richter cut that more than deserves to be used as a swelling emotional climax (and could’ve very well been swapped out in Hamnet) youtu.be/3KP7e88Gba0?...

Niche post for critics and movie-awards-season nerds: Don't sleep on The Plague, a superb, excruciatingly tense American debut film--not horror, but in its way terrifying--about being a 12- or 13-year-old boy among other 12- or 13-year-old boys. Opens next month; it's haunted me since I saw it.

Udo Kier was a delight to work with, and he loved telling shocking stories to see how you'd react. When he filmed "that moment" in CIGARETTE BURNS, there was a lot of laughter on set because he was enjoying himself too much. Dude was a straight-up icon. Those eyes. Those eyes. #RIP and much love.

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.

DOGE was created for data theft and infrastructure dismantling and it wildly succeeded on both counts within the first few weeks of its existence. It will take a generation to rebuild what it destroyed and the breach of data is unprecedented.
Bye bye, “DOGE”.

It no longer exists as a “centralized entity”, according to the Office of Personnel Management.

I wasn’t expecting Train Dreams and No Other Choice to be as great of a double feature as it is. Natural instincts, the natural world, and the choices we make to survive this singularly bizarre and cruel life.

1) @washingtonpost.com reported Thursday on a controversial policy downgrading how nooses and swastikas are labeled in the Coast Guard.

2) Admin officials attacked The Post, falsely alleging the reporting of "fake crap."

3) The CG said it would review policy language.

4) The CG reversed course.

Google removes a variety of longstanding GMail features if you try to withdraw your default consent (!) to having all your content read and used by Google Gemini via "Smart Features." That's an obvious attempt to coerce consent for privacy violations. Legislatures must act to make this illegal.

THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE is rich with jaw-dropping grandeur. Primal, undulating choreography effortlessly joined to exuberant renditions of traditional Shaker hymns. A religious epic that wholly emphasizes the choice involved in faith and devotion. Seyfried and Pullman are quite breathtaking.
