Rod Stewart. Weird haircut raspy little elf man. But he's horny as all get out and it kind of works. Like if you walked in on him jacking off while flicking his tongue you wouldn't be surprised you'd just be like yeah thats about right. Not sure what this post was going to be about originally

'The Beatles were at a low point of cultural relevance between the 80s and the 00s' is a take that needs to ignore the CD reissues of the catalogue (1987-88), the release of Anthology and the 'new' songs (1995-96), the release of 1 (2000), and the massive popularity of all of those things

Some of you didn't become obsessed with Ringo Starr from watching Shining Time Station when you were 3 and it shows

anyway i have boomer parents who obviously loved the beatles but they never forced me to like them or listen to them so i dont have any cultural generational psychodrama attached to it like some of you (who are apparently the most persecuted people alive?)

it was the first thing to turn them into a modern “legacy media brand” but it had been in production for years and just happened to come out right around the time oasis became one of the biggest bands in the world so not really
There was a lot of ideological work to make younger generations care about The Beatles. The Anthology documentaries were essentially a Stalinist operation

look it’s not like growing up my school was filled with beatles fans but “1” came out when i was a freshman in high school and is the best selling album of the 2000s so that wasn’t all boomers rebuying stuff they already knew
I’m and elder millennial, and I didn’t know a single person my age who liked the Beatles. I think they were even more anathema than disco or whatever because of their near universal acceptance as “the greatest band ever” by my parents’ generation. They were the least cool band imaginable.

Mamdani going in there calling Trump sir a couple times and singing the 1-800-588-EMPIRE jingle with him and effortlessly turning him into a committed socialist.
it's so funny to watch the far right White House press pool try to bait Trump to say something nasty about Mamdani and every time he's just like "nah this guy rocks"
