The Hater's Guide To NVIDIA
This piece has a generous 3000+ word introduction, because I want as many people to understand NVIDIA as possible. The (thousands of) words after the premium break get into arduous detail, but I’ve wr...

the invasion of Afghanistan is among the most horrific recent chapters of the long history of elite impunity in the US. this coda is grim but fitting - the govt practically explicitly affirming that it should only be Afghans who live with the consequences amid fading public memory of the atrocity
It didn’t even take 6 hours.

I think that’s a clear signal of who gets to work in journalism / media and who doesn’t. That you can help elevate a presidential candidate that you’re having a romantic relationship with, advise and strategize for him, and keep your position. But if you so much as post about Gaza then that’s it.

I think plenty of it speaks to the state of the media, but an obvious one is that Vox and Vanity Fair barely investigated her and that she managed to commit an unforgivable journalistic crime before getting a book deal and walking into another prestige job, while plenty of others are being laid off
you know, what if they aren't actually a commentary on journalism or the state of media. what if these people are just extremely weird

Now watching: the “Abed makes a movie” episode of Community, one of Season 6 and the entire series’ highlights and the sort of shit they could only really get away with without a network to tell them to cut shit like Keith David’s billiard ball monologue

The thing about Glass Onion is that it was criticized at the time for picking easy satirical targets but everything since then has justified it

it was awesome and in my experience the hate was mostly insular online circles. a few irl friends said they enjoyed it but liked the first better, but for the most part, unqualified positive reviews in my social neck of the woods

I’m one of the unabashed Glass Onion defenders, I liked it as much as Knives Out!
I quite like Glass Onion, which I realize is BLASPHEMY to some, but I find its presentation of our glossy dystopia to be closer to the mark than most other movies made of late.
It's also bleakly funny that even in 2022 I thought it was laying it on awful thick about tech bro douches, but if anything Norton's character is way too aware of other people as a concept and is at least attempting to fake an interesting inner life.

Pregaming for Wake Up Dead by watching Glass Onion, for some reason it especially pleases me that Rian Johnson has Blanc quote "My God, it's full of stars" and make note that the line is from 2010 not 2001.

we know this is true of all administrations but still, Obama had some fucking psychos on his team as someone who was once considered progressive
Former Obama speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz says Jewish students shouldn’t have smartphones until they finish high school — so they don’t see the “carnage” Israel and the U.S. have carried out in Gaza.

So I watched The Fantastic Four: First Steps and my only thought aside from pascal’s visible undershirt was “Man I should rewatch Superman that was fun”
SUPERMAN (2025) in the first ten minutes they do an earnest version of a joke from the Simpsons episode “Radioactive Man” and sell it - several plot twists that can only be called Very Comic Book had me hooting like a seal
