This comment was to a distraught redditor being sexually harassed by someone she considered a “good friend” but god damn it is such a clear and beautiful way to explain boundaries as a thing that protects YOU not a way to try to “teach” someone to “change” I just. Everyone needs to read this.

You've said no and he's ignored it. You cannot "get a person to respect your boundaries," because humans have free will. you can only uphold your own self-boundaries by deciding what you will do when a boundary is crossed and then doing it. The only reasonable self-boundary to have with regard to a sexual harasser who knows the harassment is unwanted and won't stop is "if the harassment continues after I have firmly said it must stop, then I will have no further contact with that person and will protect myself through legal means if necessary."

Let go of the idea that you can make him understand this is wrong. You can only control yourself. You can do loving kindness meditation or pray for him from a distance if those things are part of your life, but there is nothing you can do or say that will make the light go on in his head. Hopefully he is just young and stupid and porn-brained and someday he mature and will find something that he wants more than he wants to continue this behavior.

no one sympathizes with how much psychic pain the administration is causing me, specifically, as a lawyer. i was trained for decades to believe facts were something you could engage in a process of finding, and that rights were more or less established at a bare minimum level. think of the lawyers!!

LLMs are doubly deceptive. Most people think that they can ask it a question and get an answer. The majority of the rest think that you can ask an LLM a question and it will return what an answer might look like, statistically.

But it's actually even worse. It doesn't "read" the prompt; it guesses.

My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.
