I’m going to attempt to make a thread of quoted tips like this for new users so I can point my friends to it. Wish me luck. 🤞🏻

I'm not sure how to amicably coexist in a country where half of my neighbors are this guy and the other half voted for this raid to happen
reichlinmelnick.bsky.social
My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.
On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

If my life had a Clippy it would be like Hi! It looks like you waited until the night before a trip to do some critical tasks. How can I make it worse?

🔘 Wardrobe malfunction
🔘 Major appliance failure
🔘 Flood

I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

don't hold back now, David, tell us how you really feel

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Successfully obtaining Trader Joe’s seasonal mini totes for friends gives the exact same sense of pride I imagine my ancient ancestors felt returning to the village after a successful hunt.

I’m still trying to figure out how it could possibly be my problem that an entire law office has a milk allergy

This was THE most poorly-targeted and confusing ad to throw at me today
Screenshot of an ad from the Reddit mobile app.
It is stylized to look like a post by u/Enfamil but has the word “Promoted” next to the username. There is a thumbnail image of an adult looking down at an infant.

The subject text says: “A PSA for FTMs. If your LO has a cow's milk allergy, Nutramigen® could help. Get relief today.”

There was a punk werewolf and a patriot werewolf (derogatory) but not a single werewolf who wasn’t on a lunar ozempic-testosterone cocktail
Behind-the-scenes still of director Steven Miller’s favorite werewolf from the film, “Punk Rock Princess”, a werewolf with dyed red fur on the top of her head wearing a vest covered in patches and studs that somehow still fits, and possibly eye makeup? A still from the 2024 film Werewolves of a werewolf with red, white, and blue face paint wearing body armor adorned with a cardboard sign, standing in front of an electrified fence and atmospheric fog

I can suspend disbelief about a virus activated by the moon transforming any human into a towering bloodthirsty werewolf but not if it also magically makes you jacked

Watching Werewolves (2024) and if there isn’t at least one fat werewolf I will be livid

You know what is super not-remotely-sexy to take off?

Look at what we could have. look at what our tax dollars could pay for. Instead we’re paying to have ICE pepper spray directly into the air hole of a guy in an inflatable frog costume

Damn. This is amazing. £325 per week, paid monthly, for 3 years - and the result was a profit for the Irish economy:
www.citizensinformation.ie/en/employmen...
Post from Threads user rodneyowl: "Ireland has declared the Basic Income for Artists scheme permanent. This will be officially announced in tomorrow’s budget. Details to follow. Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

A clean version of the cover for my #EMMRICHWEEK2025 comic “Adoration.”

I painted this as a sort of Leyendecker study—the style really does suit him so well.

Day 1: #Necromancy

{ #nixmoriarty | #DragonAge }

Thank you DATVCOMPANIONWEEKS for hosting on tumblr!
Emmrich from Dragon Age the Veilguard performs necromancy to animate a skull. Painting style is based on Leyendecker’s art deco character paintings, with very warm tones and a black background. Emmrich’s hands are raised, with turquoise magic flowing through his figures and through ye skull, which is levitating to about chest high. He stands in front of a podium, with candles to the left, and a pile of skulls sitting on a red cloth to the right.

"my child could make this"

are they making it though? as in, do you let them? are they allowed to pursue art and the joy it provides? are they creating? its so hard to create nowadays. is your child given the abundance of freedom that creativity offers, or are they stifled by your judgemental mind?
