I feel like these guys never got to the part of literally any color revolution or scifi movie or famous Super Bowl commercial where the regime's symbolic omnipresence just creates endless potential sparks of revolution.

Hadn’t realized we reached the Fascist Leader Talking In An Endless Loop At Sites Of Mass Transit stage of the dystopia.

Good to know.

He's off to bed but I might as well keep the night going.

Haven't watched this since the theater.

We had to tap out at Dilophosaurus vs. Nedry. My boy's always been pretty sensitive but even I kinda forgot how intense that scene is.

Dean gasps when the lawyer gets T-Rex'd. He's silent when we ask if he's ok.

"Dean, we're gonna turn it off if you don't answer."

"I'M FINE! I'M FINE!"

When the brachiosaurus reveal happened he let out a "...whoa" and leaned forward.

Spielberg's the best to ever do it, man.

The mosquito situation is weird over here. Usually they're still a problem but tonight I haven't had so much as a nibble from one.

Thanks! Justified buying it during the height of COVID. Been a really great investment.

Perfect night to show my 8 year old Jurassic Park for the first time.

I always wanted to play this but never had a PC that could run it when it came out.

It will forever confound me how, over the course of (now) three movies and one short-lived Disney XD animated series, no one seems to know how to take full advantage of a premise ripe with fun possibilities.
stewbiedoo.bsky.social
Honestly the biggest misstep the movie makes is dipping back into the aesthetics of the original film, which, compared to the absurdly busy and overdesigned aesthetics of both ENCOM and Dillinger Systems' modern Grids, is a visual breath of fresh air. At least the first movie was memorably weird.
stewbiedoo.bsky.social
Butt he questions it asks and themes it presents are "the first five minutes of the first day of Philosophy 101" stuff that somehow are still grossly under-served by a script that seems to have no idea what it wants to do with its characters or premise.

Having now slept on it, Tron Ares is one of the most airless blockbusters I've seen in a while. The NIN score is aces (Daft Punk's was better) but most of the movie is just vapor. The best thing I can say about is that unlike Tron Legacy it never feels like it's moving at half-speed.

Seeing Ms. Rachel say exactly what needs to be said to Obama is so damn refreshing
Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.
Love,
Ms Rachel

The other big writing issue is that none of the new cast feels as interesting or as fun as the first game's, and even the returning gods don't have the same pop they used to.
stewbiedoo.bsky.social
But really the biggest issue is that the writing isn't nearly as strong. Melinoe's quest feels vague at best, something she was assigned rather than one she feels genuinely emotionally desperate to complete the way Zag was to meet and stay with his mother.

It doesn't feel like a sequel at all. It's just More Hades, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but after about 10 hours I kind of feel like I'm done with it. The overall gameplay feels nearly identical, even with the new weapon lineup and the magic system just isn't interesting.

Seconding Rocket Knight. Great game.

Also, believe it or not, Cool Spot (yes, the 7Up video game) is actually pretty good! Solid platforming and some surprisingly great character animation.

Cena did the best acting of his career thus far the last couple episodes but Brooks' tearful appeal to him in the motel room was every inch as good.
