Hey, that’s me! I really enjoyed talking about Romance pro křídlovku (ROMANCE FOR BUGLE). Give the episode a listen!

Czechtember charges ahead as Mike, Spencer Parsons, and Emily Barney dive into Otakar Vávra’s Romance for Bugle (1967). Vávra adapts František Hrubín’s celebrated poem into a lyrical love story set in the Czech countryside. www.projectionboothpodcast.com/2025/09/epis...

Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

THIS. Give me bad but passionate or ambitious every day over soulless.

There are so many bad horror movies I’ve enjoyed watching just because you can tell everyone involved is doing it for the love of the art, AI is not capable of that

One thing AI is good for is reminding people how even the very worst movie they’ve ever seen is better than AI “movies”

I get that we all get had here and there. It happens to even the most careful people. That said, when it comes to AI generated slop - please don't make it, share it, or amplify it. Not only are you helping to poison the water supply of whole communities, but you're helping to destroy our brains.

"even if it's AI, it's at least true" hard to overstate the damage this stuff is doing to people's brains. we're gonna be cleaning the slop out of archives for decades

Wow, you guys!

1) We had well over 100 people come through

2) Because of generous volunteers we were able to fold 2500 zines and pair them with around 1500 whistles

3) This is now a weekly event at Nighthawk

4) Nighthawk offered to be a hub for whistle donations and distribution every day

We’re doing it again! This Friday at Nighthawk (4744 N Kimball)

Whistle Zine Folding Party

Nighthawk
Friday 10/10 5:30 pm

We're back for another round of folding and whistle/zine distribution. This time we have 900 whistles to warn neighbors of ICE.

What we need: volunteers to print zines.
Connections with community organizers to distribute whistles. Hands to help fold.

Halloween is coming up soon; sit out on your porch or sidewalk to pass out candy. Go to community events. Be out and seen. There are more of us than there are of them. 5/5

If you want to fight against ICE but don’t know how, just show up for your community. See if your local school needs monitors, or if any students’ families need help getting groceries. Sit out on a street corner with a whistle and say hi to your neighbors. Eat and shop at local businesses. 4/

On the way to Nighthawk last night, I saw 3 women sitting on camp chairs at a corner on a busy street, clearly monitoring for ICE. I yelled thanks at them from my car and we all cheered. 3/

The bar staff and other patrons were interested, and Nighthawk made it an official event on Friday 10/3 with people sharing on social media. It was packed then, too, and I don’t know how many whistles/zines were made. But it was definitely an even bigger turnout last night. From 3 people. 2/

I went to an ICE alert whistle/zine assembly event at Nighthawk last night. The bar and patio was packed, and we assembled around 1,500 whistles and zines in about 2 hours. This started because 3 people decided to make these on their own at Nighthawk a week and a half ago. 1/

Week two of gathering at our local bar for the whistle project. The turnout was incredible.

Just had my first-ever experience of a delivery guy needing to collect a tariff from me in order to give me my package. Only a bank or cashier’s check is accepted, so no way for me to pay, I have to go to the bank tomorrow and the postman will try again. Very cool new system, America is great again

ICE claims it’s going after “the worst of the worst” and good people are being hit incidentally. What’s incidental about going after tamale vendors? Where’s the “worst of the worst” there?

More street vendors taken by ICE today, according to rapid response team & neighborhood reports.

Masked men arrested one of Pilsen’s longtime tamal vendors near Damen and 21st Pl, by Chase.

Those ladies are very loved by the community. I bought tamales from her many times.

ICE showed up in my parents’ neighborhood in the suburbs today, talking to a family of adults. My mom actually confronted them and I’m super proud of her but I also feel sick thinking about it. She doesn’t know if the family was taken. She reported the sighting. I hope they’re safe.
