My first thought was “wow I hope this guy didn’t give out his name because he could absolutely be charged” and yup, he is correct to stay anonymous.

This man’s account is shocking. His neighbors’ situation is shocking. The entire Chicago raid is shocking.

On the other side was a mom and her 7-year-old daughter, pleading for his help.
"I wasn't planning on letting her stay, but I didn't know what the hell was going on," the man said of his Venezuelan migrant neighbors. But he quickly relented. The little girl was inconsolable and hid under his bed.
"I didn't want them to take her," said the man, who didn't want to be named because he fears he'll be targeted by federal authorities for his actions.
"I gave her my bedroom, and I just told her,
'Just stay there. Don't open, don't, shh, just stay quiet," he recalled telling the mom and daughter as he choked back tears.

Can an historian of journalism please explain to me how the rule developed where a president says something, it has to be taken seriously as possibly true, even if it is obviously false. This rule must have a history (meaning, it can change! That is my point!)

Also, I'd point out that Costner was still able to make a blockbuster after Waterworld. He used that cachet to make The Postman, which was an even worse flop. That was almost a good film, but the ending absolutely ruined it. Didn't match the book, horrible cheese.

I think Costner's seriousness made it all the more enjoyable. He was a great straight man against all the wackiness going on around him. I honestly don't think there's anything they should have done differently. Maybe something could have gone differently with marketing? I don't remember the ads.

The viewing audience was wrong. Waterworld was robbed of its rightful place in cinema history. Incredible practical effects, among the last of its kind of big-budget film where everything you see on screen actually happened in some form in the real world. And, Dennis Hopper was perfect.

That's right. It is long past time for the Waterworld franchise to bloom. Give me sequels and prequels, and a remake. People say "it's just Mad Max on water!", and to that I say, "that's right!" Look at how Mad Max has done in recent years. (Not joking, I love Waterworld.)

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

The bailout will help payoff farmer debt to the banks. That’s all.
