I think Costner's seriousness made it all the more enjoyable. He was a great straight man against all the wackiness going on around him. I honestly don't think there's anything they should have done differently. Maybe something could have gone differently with marketing? I don't remember the ads.

The viewing audience was wrong. Waterworld was robbed of its rightful place in cinema history. Incredible practical effects, among the last of its kind of big-budget film where everything you see on screen actually happened in some form in the real world. And, Dennis Hopper was perfect.

That's right. It is long past time for the Waterworld franchise to bloom. Give me sequels and prequels, and a remake. People say "it's just Mad Max on water!", and to that I say, "that's right!" Look at how Mad Max has done in recent years. (Not joking, I love Waterworld.)

I feel like a broken record, but I have to keep saying it over and over again: a farmer bailout won’t do much of anything because the market is gone. There will be no incentive to plant next year.

The bailout will help payoff farmer debt to the banks. That’s all.
