The whole point of the United States was that people would not be subject to a ruler’s “psychological needs” or whims
I wrote abt sane washing of Trump's confession he wants to take Greenland bc of his psychological neediness. But the sane washing had its desired effect.

We should all be screaming that this--Trump confessed h wants to take an action that will destroy NATO entirely bc of his psychological needs.

The Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery removed wall text that referred to Trump’s two impeachments — language that had upset the White House — when the museum recently replaced a portrait of him in its “America’s Presidents” exhibition. www.nytimes.com/2026/01/10/a...

"That a hell of an act, what do you call it?"

"The attitudinal model!"

It's been 8 days since Donald Trump invaded a sovereign state, abducted its leader, and declared that the United States will "run" that state indefinitely.

Still no member of the House has introduced articles of impeachment connected to these actions.

Today would be a great day to do so.
Trump turns his attention to Cuba.

“A diplomatic source said: 'The generals think Trump's Greenland plan is crazy and illegal. So they are trying to deflect him with other major military operations. They say it's like dealing with a five-year-old'.”

what the fuck

have we tried turning the country off and back on again
The only time Article V of the North Atlantic Treaty has been invoked, Denmark sent hundreds of their young men and women to bleed and die for us

Now that man of blood who crouches in the White House would have our soldiers kill and maim the same young men and women for his amusement
🇩🇰 51 dead, 231 injured 🇩🇰 in Afghanistan and Iraq, answering an ally’s call.
For the record: If we invade Greenland to conquer it I am revolutionary defeatist. It's an illegal invasion, a violation of the NATO charter, and a shameful betrayal of a loyal ally.

I have some congresspeople who follow me, so I'll just throw this out there:

As a taxpayer, I would actually prefer that you *not* continue to fund the fascist military machine that is being used to kill and kidnap people from our communities.

It's always "only Democrats have agency" o'clock somewhere!
The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same
As always: "The former official said he doesn't think Trump is playing 'the sort of three-dimensional chess people ascribe to decisions like this. More often than not he's just eating the pieces.'"

I can still recall all the tut-tutting from the media when Harris made this argument.
Kamala Harris at her closing campaign rally:

"Donald Trump intends to use the United States Military against American citizens who simply disagree with him."
Common Sense, published 250 years ago today.

The response to the ICE killing of Renee Nicole Good is not what the White House was expecting.

Like with their hiding of the Epstein files, part of the fundamental problem they are facing is that the stories the Trump administration has built their movement on are being shown for their emptiness.
Some Kentucky Republicans want to ban naturalized Americans from holding public office, as the GOP drives ever-further into xenophobia. www.lpm.org/news/2026-01...

They won't have the numbers to occupy the nation and force everyone to comply, and that's why they're engaged in such an aggressive show of force. They're hoping we all get cowed into submission and do their work of suppression ourselves.

Once again, no.

The mantra remains "fuck you, make me."
This guy is in Minneapolis standing before an American citizen in an SUV.

The only reason he's brandishing an assault rifle is because he wants the people he's purportedly there protecting to feel terrorized by his presence.

This is not protection. This is occupation.
We should expect more from government than being "not crazy" and not write columns praising them for meeting this pathetically low bar statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2026/01/08/t...
This might sound a little wild to some people, but I actually don't think it's a good thing that the senile, dementia-ravaged president of the United States believes in so many ridiculous lies that his basic grasp of reality is questionable.
They don’t have the juice or manpower for it. This is not late 1930s Germany. There is no state monopoly on media. They are wildly unpopular.
The goal here is martial law. It’s martial law. Let’s be clear about that.

the imaginary Boston Globe front page was just one term too early
Three Members of Congress showed up to inspect the actions of federal officers in their state and the federal officers drew their weapons?
JUST NOW: Huge mass of agents in a standoff, weapons drawn as Reps. Ilhan Omar, Angie Craig, and Kelly Morrison attempt to conduct congressional oversight at the Whipple Building, which has been HQ for thousands of ICE agents.
