Appeal allowed in IA: Upper Tribunal was wrong to find breach of Article 8 ECHR

This is the widely reported case about the Gazan family applying for settlement under the Ukrainian Family Scheme. The Court of Appeal makes no criticism of the choice to use that route

Been driving for a couple hours. Just got online. Lemme see if I understand. US has been pushing a Ukraine plan for a few days. After some pushback, US Secy of State reveals that in fact it's a Russian plan that was presented to the US. Helluva a misunderstanding.

X has a legal duty to remove those unlawful racial slurs.

It defends > 90% of the racial abuse faced by the Home Secretary [in common with many other British Asians in public life] in breach of that

Its a failure of government too if the platform can do that with impunity
bsky.app/profile/sund...
X is in clear + systemic breach of its legal duties in the UK to remove unlawful content from its platform.

Proof: when X users abuse + harass others with the racial slur "paki", X reporting system defends the racist abuse in more than 90% of cases reported.

A new thread documenting this.

The Labour MPs worried about getting re-elected if they put up income tax were never getting re-elected anyway.
It's true. If Labour raise income taxes, the party might slump to around a quarter of the vote, and its PM and Chancellor might be even more unpopular than Rishi Sunak in 2024 or Jeremy Corbyn in 2019 - wait, sorry, just got an email from Ipsos with some new polling, I'm sure it's nothing important.
Quite a contrast to the BlueSky consensus the last 24 hours

The Kremlin disguised a nearly $100 mn payment to Trump in the form of a brokered real estate deal... and both Jeffrey Epstein and William Pulte were involved in the deal. That's very interesting.

This exact same reporter was ousted from the NY Times for soliciting a $30,000 donation from Epstein— and you're telling me that as an employer, the NY Times never bothered to circle back and review this person's correspondence with a convicted pedophile?
A former New York Times staffer quietly left the paper after revealing he had solicited charitable donations from Jeffrey Epstein
Former New York Times reporter Landon Thomas Jr. told his editors he became friends with Epstein after profiling him in 2008, NPR reported Thursday.

Jeffrey Epstein, the notorious child sex trafficker, says that Donald Trump is the worst person he has ever met

It's probably not fully possible for you to understand the full meaning of that sentence
Jeffrey Epstein to Lawrence Summers (both of whom are very bad people):

“i have met some very bad people , none as bad as trump. not one decent cell in his body. so yes- dangerous”

tl;dr: why are your taxes about to go up?

Brexit!
I wonder if the United States can learn anything from the last time a major industrialized country decided to isolate itself from the rest of the world?

Almost a decade after the Brexit vote, GDP in the UK is around 6-8% lower relative to peer countries. (Source: www.nber.org/papers/w34459)

Wow: Per Hamdi's legal team, his only charge was a visa overstay — after Trump revoked his visa.

Despite DHS tweeting that Hamdi supported terrorism, they never charged him with any criminality.

In other words: Trump revoked a journalist's visa, so agents could arrest him for overstaying his visa.
NEW: British journalist Sami Hamdi is being released from US detention.

Trump administration agents detained him two weeks ago at the San Francisco airport — hours after he addressed an event, where he urged US leaders to take an “America First” approach rather than “Israel First.”

I don't think the biggest problem is that this relief exists. The total allowance is 60k. That's just mad.

You can also park 20k in your ISA, 9k in JISA per kids, 2.8k in JSIPP per kid.
A family of 4 can shelter just over 183k per year from tax.
