Old nerd. Just four bad ideas in a trenchcoat. Half the weirdos on Is That Some Kind of Japanimation Thing? and regular contributor to Ghost Show Press’s Everyone’s Gone to the Movies series. They say I cannot be killed by normal means. He/him

Scene: Star Wars rpg session

GM: it’s like a tricorder.

Me: no, it’s a do-or-do-not-corder. There is no try.

This was filmed in my town so it’s great to see suburban Toronto subbing for a California mountain town.

Speaking of secret sauce that wasn't anywhere to be found in the sequels, so much of the idiosyncrasies of the original film that make it timeless come from visionary artist Jean Giraud AKA Moebius.

I mean it makes sense that she wouldn’t wear the cloak as it’s rather hot on that planet. I just thought that was a nice part of her look.

"By the end of WHO KILLED THE MONTREAL EXPOS, you come to hope that one day spring will smile kindly once more on those still still praying for the return of their darling team,” writes @812filmreviews.com.

October Spooky Reads: It Was Her House First by @cheriepriest.com

I maintain Cherie is at her best when she is writing about hauntings, and here she interweaves past and present to deliver a ghost story with a delightful ending. It's almost cozy creepy? Is that a genre? A+ pacing & characters.

A codified 4-day work week.
We simply want to protect the way we've been working for over 3.5 years. The 4dww has proven benefits, such as increased productivity and improved employee satisfaction. It's part of what makes Kickstarter a special, innovative place to work.
Fair pay for our lowest-paid workers.
We're fighting for livable minimum salaries for roles that are undervalued by the market but crucial to keeping Kickstarter running. We believe none of our workers should struggle to make ends meet. Creators

Losing my mind and what look like video game assets but instead were used to justify war crimes and genocide in the real world
NEW: Since October 2023, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit has released dozens of 3D animations illustrating alleged Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iranian sites

The style is unmistakable: satellite zoom-ins, black & white wireframes, and red-textured houses - a new visual language of war.Our analysis of 43 official IDF videos found recycled 3D environments, spatial inaccuracies, and assets lifted from unrelated artists and institutions. We traced over 30 unique assets to Washington-based 3D creator Ian Hubert, who makes bespoke models created for his sci-fi project Dynamo Dream, available to his Patreon subscribers.

Models of parking lots, antennas, + pipes were repurposed as Hamas and Iranian military sites @evanhill

Fascinating work here tracing how the IDF recycled 3D assets from a cyberpunk sci-fi art project, the Scottish Maritime Museum and elsewhere to populate its widely-seen models of supposed enemy locations in Gaza, Lebanon and Iran. One of the most infamous, the alleged underground Hamas command center at Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, used to justify an unprecedented assault on the biggest medical center in Gaza, was actually an animation the IDF had used the previous year, saying at the time it was a tunnel beneath a UN school.

Waitress has confirmed it was a Netflix production.

Heading up to Napanee for a ceremony and we’re stopped in Coburg for lunch. There are technical trucks & parking cones taking up spots so I suspect there’s a production in town. Suspect either a Hallmark movie or an episode of Reacher.

The GOP has had 15 years since the ACA passed, nearly 10 years since Trump started running against it, to offer a better plan and they. Have. NOTHING. Nothing but Trump’s “ideas of a plan” that’ll be revealed “in two weeks.” That’s what would replace the ACA: nothing.

Country fans are upset with Zach Bryan after he criticized ICE in a song.

But don't let it be known that Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash all despised fascism and leaned heavily to the left.
