INTRO POST, since I'm seeing an influx of followers (probably due to @dustinweaver.bsky.social 's comics list, thanks Dustin!) I'm Daniel Irizarri Oquendo (or DIO), a comic book artist and sci-fi illustrator based in PR. Feel free to unfollow but in this house it's Free Palestine and Fuck AI!

I got a day of clemency on this today but I still have $400 I absolutely must raise by tomorrow morning before I have to leave for work. Any bit helps, especially just sharing this when you see it to get it in front of more eyeballs. I just don’t want to lose my roof this week.

I sincerely thought I wouldn’t need to do this this week, but something fell through and now I need to raise $800 by Thursday to pay for our room and to get to and from work til next payday. If you’re able to spare anything, even a share, it would be tremendous.

Anything helps!

the amount of work for just one frame of Tron is astounding
danielirizarri.bsky.social
"clear understanding" or "victim of" 2010s UI designs, it's hard to say. You're right tho that that's when so many of the interesting and ornate features of design were all being sanded off. A TRON sequel, even in the early 2000s, could have at least given us some Spy Kids flavor.

Jared Leto of all people 😂🔫
danielirizarri.bsky.social
yeah there was hours of processing and layers upon layers that went into each frame. A herculean task but I don't think it'd be impossible to simulate much less painstakingly with modern technology and achieve something that properly evokes these prime geometric neon landscapes.

Speaking of secret sauce that wasn't anywhere to be found in the sequels, so much of the idiosyncrasies of the original film that make it timeless come from visionary artist Jean Giraud AKA Moebius.

it's crazy how much juice every shot in the original still has.

#Comics folks, I need you to pull up to this one.

The world sucks right now, and we have the opportunity to do a little bit of good for a displaced and marginalized member of our community. Please join me in supporting this KS campaign!

www.kickstarter.com/projects/den...
If you're somebody who values supporting marginalized voices in comics, here's your chance to put your money where your values are!

The writer of this RINGO NOM’D INDIE COMIC (and a very dear friend of mine) is a Syrian Refugee who has been through more continuous hardships than I have space to list here; constantly navigating visa applications, unstable living conditions, predatory landlords (limited options as a refugee).

Anas just wants to make comics and live a normal life like what so many of us take for granted. Backing this campaign will help Anas to take the next step toward freedom and autonomy, helping to fund a move to another country with more stable employment options. This is truly one of the most important comics purchases you will ever make.

Middle Eastern and North African comics creators are some of the most underrepresented in the comics industry of the western world. Anas isn’t running a GoFundMe to support this move, and is not asking for charity. Simply, Anas is using their talent for storytelling, along with Dennis’ gorgeous art, to offer you a beautiful experience in the comics medium, that also goes toward funding a better life for Anas.

I’m so proud of Anas, and humbled by their experiences and perseverance. I would like to see Anas’ Dream realized, and I’d love to see this community help to make that happen. Please join me in pledging to the Etheres Kickstarter campaign! (link below). Etheres cover B

I’m down to $450 still and need it in the next two hours. If you see this, any bit helps, but if you can’t donate, just reposting is also extremely helpful!

I think what's impressive about TRON is that, visually, it's still so much more interesting than any of it's sequels. It's crazy that they tried update this digital world by making it as 'realistically rendered' as possible. It's a complete misunderstanding of the original's charm.

That's a 48 page drm-free comic full of ghost town gossip, lights in the sky, and strange shapes behind the trees. Should be great for some seasonal reading! Available at giftshop.backwoodfolk.com

A horned goat watches from afar.

dialogue
Ben: "According to this I should be here already.
That's on me using modern tools in old places.
And there he is. The king of old places himself.

Hello Hieronymus. How long do goats live? No idea." On the front porch of a general store Chester pins up lost dog pictures. The Three Whittlers whittle away and chat with him. The smallest whittler named Herbert carves a skeleton.

Claude: Lose that Dog of your's again, chester?
Chester: Dunno if she was around long enough to be considered found.
Art: One of them young ladies in Uncle Foe's Flock mentioned seeing a Beagle.
Chester: Ah shoot. I don't wanna deal with them tonight. The've been real riled about some thirteen stars nonsesne.
'We will ascend and leave our bodies behind for alien hermit crabs'
Martha had patience for them. I do not.
Herbert: Say, you're a fellow geezer. what story did your folks tell you about Fiddler's Cave?
Chester: We both know I'm from Sheboygan.
Herbert: So you don't know any of the stories?
Chester: Figure I'm about to.
Herbert: Lemme tall ya about the Phantom's Fiddle!

I have extensive experience in e-comm, customer relations, & brand design/management, and am looking for full time work. Comics-adjacent would be ideal, but I'm open. DM me
