DDG is just a skin for Bing with a few whistles and bells IIRC. Its own crawler is pretty limited in scope.

It does some quality filtration, acts as a proxy to foil trackers and doesn't retain user data, all useful things, but ultimately what it has to work with is what Bing gives it.

It was honestly easier than this in 1997. Even number of results pages has gone off a cliff.

You have to wade through at least a page or two of ads and pure nonsense to even get to a few substandard but relevant results.

Basically if info isn't on Wikipedia, Reddit or the IA you're fucked.

Wrt using google search without ai. Thing is though even doing this the quality of it is still vastly degraded compared to how it was even a year ago? I find myself having to rework search terms at least three times to find anything I'm actually looking for there now.

It's imho so bad right now that it's actually politically advantageous for us to make sure you go through fascism with us and it *still* won't guarantee we won't get left behind when all of this is over. Trans people owe you nothing! Cis people? You owe us a *lot*.

I don't know why this is still so hard for people to understand, especially when everything we're dealing with in terms of trans people losing rights right now ultimately comes down to cis people being uninformed and uncaring about trans issues.

Two of my Varanus Gilleni; the Mulga or Gillens Monitor lizard.

Native to Australia, these are one of the smallest species of monitor lizards reaching a max of 40cm, most of which is tail. Cousins to the Komodo Dragon!
