The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is an important note.

In the late 80s the reason we had Sentai, Rider and Metal Heroes all airing all at once because Rider was on JNN at the time, with Sentai and Metal Heroes occupying a proto-SHT niche on TV Asahi.

People act like Toei didn’t four (sometimes more) separate Toku properties at one time or another. There’s no current niche to fill during SHT, but there’s so many more places for an original show to release. That’s all I’ll say on the matter.

As to the original work being developed; keep in mind that Toei can’t distribute Sentai here because of Hasbro. So if they want to make money here and have it not be Kamen Rider (which they don’t fully own anyway) they’d need to do something original.

Sentai isn’t going away, but what is supposed to happen is the addition of a global brand name. The show will still be Super Sentai, at least for the core audience in Japan. Outside the country, we’ll see. The title may also be a little bit different than normal to support this.
