The H1-B deadline is not enough time to reliably book a flight and travel across the world if you happen to be home with family. The only flight to the US from Singapore that would get there in time was sold out within hours of the announcement, and priced out for many.

i don’t think people on bluesky understand the severity of this situation.

i woke up to literally hundreds of texts from friends and family thinking about either moving back home to india or applying to other countries for jobs. this includes me.
