As news that 2/5 of the “aid” allowed into Gaza is truckloads of body bags & the UN warns 14,000 babies are going to die in the next 48hrs without immediate intervention, I turn once again to social media - where thousands are begging for their lives.

So turns out in the UK, it’s only a crime to sexually harass a child over the course of several weeks if she’s NOT transgender. Live and learn.
Father Ted co-creator Graham Linehan has been cleared of harassing a transgender activist, but was found guilty of criminal damage to her mobile phone.

Campbells was also just heavily fined for admitting to dumping ecoli filled plant waste from it’s location in Maumee, OH into the Maumee river twice a day, 7 days a week since 2018.
Campbell’s about to be out of here faster than target. This is gonna be impressive fall.

Patient came in with sore throat. While waiting for rapid Strep test result we glanced back at the Covid-19 RAT result: positive. Reminder that masking in health care makes sense, if you don’t want everyone in your waiting room to go home sick, your staff to get sick, and physicians to get sick.

it's the same reason fox says it's coverage is "fair and balanced". It's Orwellian code for, "our goal is fascism."
I don’t understand why Weiss thinks the desired outcome of CBS News coverage is debate.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

It was also wild to watch other Black folks, including my former colleague, take this white lady at her word that she was gonna do better

As if we hadn't all been through #SolidarityIsForWhiteWomen back in the Black Twitter days

But then again those colleagues had tech jobs sooooo........

I still have an email from Joan Donovan sitting in my inbox from like 2019, when she apologized to me and my former colleague for her erasure of #YourSlipIsShowing in her NYT article about GamerGate or whatever.

Let me tell you how I never even finished reading that email bc I knew it was bullshit.

No, what ended up happening instead is that racist nonBlack people turned the tech misinfo/disinfo space into an affirmative action program for white women specifically, who reveled in erasing and misappropriating Black women's work and labor

Like please, go ahead, point me towards the massive numbers of Black trans folks that have jobs in the heck industry, especially the parts of the industry I was involved in: social media/misinfo & disinfo. Go ahead!!!

And mind you this was all before I came out as trans in 2021. And I don't know if you know but being Black and trans does not increase your hiring chances!!!

If Black women have lost 600k jobs what do you think that means for Black transmasculine folks

In the wake of #YourSlipIsShowing I applied to multiple tech jobs between 2014 and 2022. At least one was for an org I actually spoke for. I got nothing. And I know it was the same for @sassycrass.bsky.social.

Holy *shit* I am well known to be The Friend That Has A Story For Everything (it has come up repeatedly this week!) and this thread has taught me there is At Least One Thing I Do Not Have A Story For, Actually!

There's just. . . so much going on here??? I am full of amusement and concern?

Eliminating four Salt Lake County-run day cares will force more than 250 families to find other arrangements in a state that already has a shortage of licensed providers — and save the average county homeowner only 23 cents a month.
Keeping S.L. County-run day cares open would cost taxpayers a cup of coffee a year. It’s too pricey for GOP council members.
The plan to shutter day cares that serve more than 250 families has inspired a coalition of parents to fight back.

I (obviously) hadn't considered or observed this but of course as soon as it is pointed out it's like being slapped in the face. Fuck.

And reminder @sassycrass.bsky.social is dead. There is no redress for her. Anti-Blackness (& ableism) kills.
I will say though that I noticed awhile ago that the Black women that the U.S. tech industry actually did hire were not African American, or of they were, they were light skinned + had exotic names

& I think this has something to do with why me and @sassycrass.bsky.social never got jobs ourselves.

Local whites & nonBlacks tend to prefer non-local Black folks when it comes to certain types of jobs, tech is one of them. And that's before we get into how this like casteism (which is also antiblack and colorist) shape hiring practices in the industry.

* In the 1860s, candy-pulls were THE place for young people to hang out in certain rural communities. There are endless tales of romance and broken hearts and fights and straight-up murders that occurred in the excitement. Very "kids these days don't know how to behave" but over candy.
