Meta: I have kept a public Mastodon account since leaving the other place, and this hasn't resulted in the level of drama that a public Twitter account did. Twitter kept turning my life upside down and never made me any money, so I limit social media because I don't have time for that.

Wife did a gravel order from Lowe’s for me to pick up. I drive to the pick up dock. Guy with a radio comes out. I show him the order receipt. He radios inside. They tell him to tell me to tell my wife to download the app so that she can check in on it to let them know I’m here to pick up the order.

I'd like to see the Pope come to the US to try to give prayers, communion and spiritual comfort to those taken by ICE. They'll beat the Pope of course, and shoot him with tear gas, and arrest him, in front of the whole world to see. Pam Bondi will say "nobody is above our law." It'll be clear then.

US trade policy is hopelessly dysfunctional. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the world just refused to trade with us until we figure out what the rules are going to be.

About a month ago, the Trump administration got rid of the de minimis exemption, whereby packages valued under $800 could slide in without import duties. Now there's a backlog as the government can't process all of this paperwork, leading to UPS just destroying packages
