The revolution will not be televised, but the inflatable suit dance party will be streamed to the masses.

And there’s lots of evidence to suggest that you do in fact beat fascism by dressing in an inflatable costume and dancing.

Seriously, what is wrong with this country? How can we be so degraded that such a large percentage of our public officials are just completely worthless?

UPDATE: In emailed statement to me / @reason.com, DHS alleges that WGN-TV producer Debbie Brockman "threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer."
Screencap of email from DHS public affairs: Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin:

“U.S. Border Patrol was conducting immigration enforcement operations and when several violent agitators used their vehicles to block in agents in an effort to impede and assault federal officers. In fear of public safety and of law enforcement, officers used their service vehicle to strike a suspect’s vehicle and create an opening. As agents were driving, Deborah Brockman, a U.S. citizen, threw objects at Border Patrol’s car and she was placed under arrest for assault on a federal law enforcement officer.

“This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of illegal aliens violently resisting arrest and agitators and criminals ramming cars into our law enforcement officers. These attacks highlight the dangers our law enforcement officers face daily—all while receiving no pay thanks to the Democrats’ government shutdown.”

Guy in a wheelchair trying to rag on a guy for his physical fitness. I mean....

I have a serious problem with the fact that we have a culture so degraded that we routinely elect people with such a conspicuous lack of virtue.

The collaborator class seems serenely confident that the Trumpenreich will last a thousand years while the House GOP is in complete meltdown. Look, I’m not *promising* comedy gold by any means, but the possibility is there.

I just approved major pieces of legislation to keep building more affordable housing.

Whether it's turning empty office buildings into residential spaces or building more homes near public transportation, we're doing all we can to lower the price to realize the California Dream.

Q: Rescission are something Dems have said is a reason for a lack of trust. What rescissions are you discussing?

JOHNSON: We have more than $37t in debt. We're doing everything we can to get us back to sound fiscal responsibility. What does that include? A rescission package is part of our process

The trouble NIMBYs have is that they are almost invariably the least sympathetic people you can possibly imagine. The cleverest YIMBY activist in the world could not invent a less likeable antagonist than the median NIMBY.

Might feel like an inversion of the Civil War, but less than you might think. The federal government was thoroughly in the hands of the Slave Power in the 1850s. States resisted the Fugitive Slave Act; Dred Scott was SCOTUS. Secession happened b/c they wouldn't accept losing that control in 1860.

From this Yankee's perspective, the Labour Party has really adopted a despicable path. But--and I know this is naïve--why not the LibDems? Aren't they pretty good on trans freedom and immigration? Is there much distance between these parties or are they natural coalition partners?

I genuinely believe that if the Greens remain consistent with their messaging and politics, a sizeable percentage of people who are disillusioned with Labour or who vote Reform as a protest vote or who simply don't think voting is worth it (etc) would be persuaded to join the Greens.

Gerisch, a 46-year-old sales executive, isn’t sure whether he and his family will stay put. SB 79 would allow five-story residential buildings on his and other nearby streets, which sit within a half-mile of a Metro K Line light rail station.

“I feel like I’ve been blindsided,” he said. “A lot of us were.”

Under SB 79, developers would be permitted to build up to nine-story residential buildings adjacent to subway stops, seven stories within a quarter-mile of them and six stories within a half-mile — overriding local planning and zoning rules.

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!
