I know this because I nearly cut my middle finger off in an accident when I was a toddler and am very lucky that I even have a nail on that finger, but it has always and will always grow in an odd shape and have a busted cuticle because it was cut right on the matrix nail bed.

This means you damaged your matrix nail bed which does have a “memory” of sorts, undamaged it remembers how your nail is normally supposed to grow, but damaged the cells now remember that. You were biting DEEP to do that, or at least the pressure reached very deep.

Finger nails are weird. They “remember” indents. I have an indent on my left thumb nail - put there myself when I was a kid by running my teeth over it till the indent formed. And 50 yrs later, it appears at the cuticle, grows up the nail, disappears at the top and then reappears at the bottom again

The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.
