Everything is still shitty, so here's a thread of photos from my trip to the eastern Sierra the week before last.

Went through Yosemite to get there...

I would be loath to spend anybody else’s money on it.

But as you say, maybe he is the strongest candidate, and maybe he wins the primary. Let’s find out!

I read a profile of Platner that had a lot of appealing stuff in it. But there was also some running against the party bullshit. And honestly, why would anyone expect the party to rally behind a guy who incorporates anti-party messaging into his campaign?

As far as I could tell—and I have zero expertise in this area, so that’s a huge caveat—this guy believed his dead brother was there with him.

Brian had died in a motorcycle accident like five years before.

On a trip to Lancaster, I interviewed an inmate who—this was highly unusual—had his brother, Brian, there with him. This inmate (and I’ve forgotten his name) was clearly very dependent on his brother. I would ask a question and this guy would turn to Brian before answering.

I don’t really have a hometown, so I’ll tell a ghost story that happened to me. In the late ‘90s I worked on a pro bono case on behalf of a putative class of developmentally disabled inmates in the CA correctional system. I had to go to a bunch of facilities to interview potential class members….

What’s the best ghost story from your hometown?

It’s like saying Biden “primaried” Bernie Sanders (which, in Bernie’s mind, is exactly what happened).

Oh, I’ve seen that byline before. I don’t recall what it was that I read of hers, I just remember googling her to verify that yes, she is definitely a reliably right wing hack.

Random question: the motion for protective order was supposedly “unopposed”, but Comey submitted a competing motion…did the DOJ try to claim falsely that their motion was unopposed, or is there more to this?

Yeah that’s some Nobel-ass material right there

Document signed at yesterday's peace summit in Egypt outlines only broad principles for Gaza's future, highlighting ongoing challenges to achieving lasting resolution to the conflict.
Trump, leaders of Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey signed the agreement. The warring parties—Israel and Hamas, did not.

New evidence that DHS reopened criminal investigation of Abrego Garcia on April 17 (the same day the 4th Cir said the admin's position "should be shocking not only to judges, but to the intuitive sense of liberty that Americans far removed from courthouses still hold dear") at direction of DHS HQ.

Spicy footnote in new motion to compel discovery by Abrego Garcia in his quest to show he's victim of vindictive prosecution, as retaliation for challenging his unlawful removal to El Salvador. On one level, duh, of course. It was a whole of govt smear campaign targeting AG to justify its error:

Keep evidence hidden, or maybe keep the absence of evidence hidden.

So many similarities to GOP candidate Nixon dispatching Kissinger to sabotage LBJ's Vietnam talks, initiating a horrendous Cambodian bombing campaign after winning the 1968 election - only to sign essentially the same deal in 1973 that LBJ had put together 5 years earlier.
