The best grassroots movements are the ones started by the people who just show up. We couldn't just continue calling ourselves that group of us who have been showing up to protest on the sidewalk in Oak Ridge (too many words, too vague) so, introducing: the Southern Resistance Coalition.

#MaryvilleTN Turned out 1,000 patriots this morning to say #NoKings, 180 turned out in #KingstonTN, 309 in #SeviervilleTN.... Still waiting on final numbers from #KnoxvilleTN today, but they definitely had more than back in June. #OakRidgeTN #NoKings is happening now until 5pm. @maddow.msnbc.com

I understand many peoples' feelings of helplessness and despair. Those are natural reactions. Remember, you have the power to resist. To never obey in advance. Kindness, empathy and humor are powerful tools against oppression. It's dark time, but they haven't won. We can prevail.

Ladies and gentlemen, the meritocracy

Ms. Halligan, who took over on Monday after her predecessor quit rather than prosecute James B. Comey with what he believed was insufficient evidence, had a little trouble with the first two tasks. At one point, she entered the wrong courtroom. When she found the right one, she stood on the wrong side of the judge, then appeared confused about the paperwork she just had signed.
