Donald Trump is not a king — and his administration is not above the law.

Today, the court confirmed what we all know: there is no credible evidence of a rebellion in the state of Illinois.

And no place for the National Guard in the streets of American cities like Chicago.

We need a bigger national spotlight on this building raid, fam. Agents dropped from helicopters onto the roof. Citizens and non-citizens alike were dragged from their homes in the night. People who weren't kidnapped during the raid had their belongings seized after the fact. This is madness.
"Jones, 27, is among the residents left at 7500 S. South Shore Drive who are trying to piece together what remains after an early morning, high-powered federal immigration raid led to the arrests of dozens of their neighbors at their South Shore apartment building."
Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'
The Department of Homeland Security said federal agents with Border Patrol, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives arrested 37 people in the raid.

Just a heads up to search LibGen itself, not use the Atlantic's site. My books didn’t pop up under the latter
Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

Can someone please publish this? I want to read it.
Still looking for a new publisher for A Feast of Folklore!

Max Miller of Tasting History called it 'A must read the next time you are sitting down to a sausage roll.' You can't get higher praise.

I think there should be more press about this popular medical historian, author @drlindseyfitz.bsky.social & dual USA-UK citizen’s case.
She needs to be in the UK for cancer treatment, yet is not allowed to leave US.
For those who missed it: I tried to fly back from Chicago to London last week and was prevented from doing so because a UK border agent said they have no record of my citizenship. This reminds me that an immigrant's place is precarious, even with all the legal paperwork. Anyway, I miss home.

If anyone knows Duke Torres the pup, let me know. The other neighborhood guy is housing till Monday, and then it’s off to a no-kill shelter.

Ugg.

Sweet dog, but no one in the neighborhood knows him. There are a few Torres’s in the neighborhood according to the mailman, but no luck finding them.

Yesterday, me and another neighborhood friend found this dog on the streets of Avondale, Chicago, loose.

Its collar just said “Duke Torres”, no other info.

No chip- it’s on the vet pages and the relevant Facebook groups.
