I just mean I wouldn't give yourself a hard time because that doesn't sound like a lot! The state of mine...ketchup, brown sauce, salad cream, Caesar dressing, 6x hot sauces, chutneys, piccalilli, jams, jellies, mint sauce, pickles...

This is quite horrifying to me, especially because I can’t think of a useful application of it for my work without it compromising my research integrity. And in addition, the use of LLMs is so highly unethical for the environment, intellectual property rights, etc.
the amount of academic research now using llms in research (synthetic data generation, to classify, annotate, or analyse large scale data, etc) is astounding. remember, just cus use of llms in research is becoming normalised does NOT erase the fact it degrades the research & undermine your results
I consider that a very conservative condiment selection!

NO FRIENDS is exactly the kind of weird cool meticulous shit that AI boosters like to think it could do. And it just can't, because it takes effort.
btw if you want to see something actually interesting and funny done with the friends franchise, watch my pal @tomdissonance.com's NO FRIENDS www.youtube.com/watch?v=StcT...

This is sometimes read as "look 'AI' isn't working". But the opposite is true.

_This_ is what "AI" is _for_. Push down labor power, push down wages, make employment more insecure.

I would love to have a chat with you about this because I know you know things from art that I absolutely do not, if you ever have time for me to pick your brains?!

“‘When it comes to AI, the [Dunning-Kruger effect] vanishes,’ study senior author Robin Welsch, a professor at Aalto University, said in a statement about the work. ‘In fact, what’s really surprising is that higher AI literacy brings more overconfidence.’”
AI Is Causing a Grim New Twist on the Dunning-Kruger Effect, New Research Finds
New research shows how AI tools is making a Dunning-Kruger specimen out of everyone that uses them, no matter how smart.

Our academic library system made AI a bullet point requirement of our annual performance review last year but it was very broad. Mine ended up being a libguide that covered its pitfalls, problems, and failures. I refuse to "incorporate it" into my workflows.
It seems like the only way tech companies are able to compel AI usage is by coercion in performance review processes?

I got home to find that my wonderful husband had, on his way home from taking Dragon for her monthly injection, stopped by to pick up an oak gall ink painting of a curlew skull I'd been admiring in the local craft shop 🥹
Just given a lecture on generative AI and ethics that students described as "exceptional", "the most engaging lecture they've had all semester", and which they appreciated the touching on fascism and eugenics around for personal reasons so do you know what, I'm just going to keep on doing my thing
All this tells me is that Clarivate (pfeh) have identified Dunning-Kruger effect in senior librarian respondents (and I can hypothesise why)

Well it's still being used in training resources to influence assessment in HE, so unfortunately hasn't yet been dismantled point by point

Judge rules George R.R. Martin and other authors can sue OpenAI for copyright infringement

• Said ChatGPT generated 'Game of Thrones' content similar enough to infringe copyright

• OpenAI’s motion to dismiss was denied

Genuinely delighted to download a PhD thesis from a university repository where the author has neglected to remove the words "BITCH THIS IS YOUR THESIS" from the filename.
I'm sorry but what in the everloving heck (no energy for alt text sorry)

I personally am significantly more worried about the effects of LLMs and AI video slop on children’s brain development than I am about even social media. I am very worried that our school systems and laws are pushing kids toward AI artificial “friends” while banning social apps.
Yeah I think there are going to be more families who do the equivalent of “we don’t own a TV, we simply all sing madrigals around the piano by candlelight for entertainment” during these next decades. There isn’t a safe amount of AI slop for kids to be exposed to. So if a platform has it: then no.
NB TikTok is totally blocked on my kids’ devices, but thanks to the fact all their videos are fully downloadable (how is THAT legal) it’s inescapable - all big websites are now video scrolling services, even Spotify etc, and they’re all full of TikTok slop
As we all know it's impossible to get a replacement, those library staff with their constant desire to not allow people to borrow books
All because I wouldn't let him take the library card that lives here away with him because the other one has been lost. Truly I am wicked!
