This is correct.

I need a new router so I paid double to get a non-tp-link router I didn’t need a subscription to use. Not because I’m worried about tp-link, but because my job is cyber risk and compliance things and I didn’t want to have to replace anything with no notice.

I hear the Democrats are taking “line go up” as a political slogan. Oh dear.

I just realized half my issue is that NIST actually, literally changed their definition of risk for the AI RMF.

I complain about the definition they’re using in the thread, but I hadn’t thought to check prior docs until now. AAAAAAAAAARH.
I feel dumb about it, but I’ve been reading, skimming, rereading, finding references, and trying to assemble the NIST AI resources. This is much harder than it should be and unfortunately was the equivalent of nerd-sniping rather than what I was supposed to do.

Best Buyhas a very restrictive script for their chat agents. I can only tell they’re not ai (I think!) because they all misspell my name.

Yesterday, Roger Stone announced his partnership with a menswear company, where together they've released a collection of tailored clothing items.

Here is my review of those pieces. 🧵

Ok, so the sale frenzy now is bad and I should feel bad, but during the extended Black Friday remix I was able to get the cute dinosaur arigurumi kits for $15 from the Container Store.

The page is wrong -- it says both lion and dino, and friends I GOT DINO. (I'll give the real link in the thread.)

Today on Volts: I've had more requests to cover this than almost any other topic in the pod's history, so now, at long last, balcony solar! We dig into how "plug-in solar" took off in Europe & how it's making its way to the US, starting in Utah. Backyard DIY types rejoice!
What's the deal with balcony solar?
Cora Stryker joins me to explain how "plug-in" solar took Europe by storm and is finally, via Utah (?), making its way to America.

They told me how much I belonged right up to the day they laid me off.

The next job, they told me how much I belonged right up to the performance review with surprise metrics I’d been explicitly told DIDN’T count.
"you belong here" means "you are responsible for staying here and fixing this no matter what" when it is delivered to you by someone who also says "and I cannot be held responsible for ever making you feel like you belong and are seen"

This is why I don't accept invites to talk to girls about tech
I believe a lot of folks underestimate the bruising psychological effect of being told "you belong here" while simultaneously being consistently oppressed by the same people

Bearing witness & providing community & data to prove it's real is so important

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

As a small business who talks with other small businesses, it's healthcare.

Also the end of de minimus. But mostly healthcare.
FOX: There is a lot statistics & anecdotes that reflect a downward trend for small business optimism. What can we look forward to for relief?

LOEFFLER: They've struggled under not only Bidenflation, but the massive regulatory agenda of the Biden administration. And then the Democrat shutdown ...

I realized why I love fado so much: it’s goth blues. (Maybe I’m refining too much on Mísia and RosaNegra. But that’s the ~feeling~ I get.)

I need to stop listening to it, because the European Portuguese accent is perfectly fine but fucks up my Brazilian pronunciation.

I’ve twice told the library that certain CDs are skipping, and they look at me utterly blankly when I asked if they would fix them and then I could check them out again, so I am returning to the Old Ways.

Brasso + fado = beautiful nonskipping music :)

I was feeling pretty great about the MacBook deal I got until Best Buy arbitrarily cancelled the order the day _after_ it was supposed to arrive. Given that several other orders, placed at the same time with the same cash back deal, arrived, I can only assume it’s fuckery. (I did ask. No reason.)

Should I write a book?

I’m kinda thinking if it. I do have a few things to say that I think are useful to people who aren’t me.
I rowed an hour this morning, without stopping for more than a few seconds to scratch my nose. This is the longest I’ve rowed at once; I’ve felt able to for a few weeks, but decided to save it for the holiday challenge concept2 runs every year.

That’s a long way from my 5min/day start in January.
