Went downstairs and got a whiff of rotten eggs. Hurray! Gas leak. One of the perks of methane gas plumbed buildings is that leaks are an emergency because YOUR HOUSE CAN BLOW UP!
So the utility has turned off the gas and we are without heat until the furnace tech can swing by... in a few days.
