As predicted, Cheney and the neocons are not important to the new fascist right so it's okay to say "Rest in Piss", etc because the modern (moneyed) fascist movement doesn't care and so neither does BlueSky, who are trying to court their VC funding.

how you can tell even conservatives hate Dick Cheney:

The devs haven't banned anyone for clowning on his death
US Dems sitting back, silently letting Mamdani get ratfucked in the media by sleazy political operators are just setting the precedent of their own future ratfucking if they were ever to try to do their "sensible" watered-down unpopular alternatives.

They are walking the path to Starmerism.

Scoop: We obtained vast amounts of European mobile phone location data from data brokers. It was allegedly collected for advertising purposes only, but can be used to spy on high-ranking EU officials & NATO staff in Brussels. The Commission is 'concerned' & issued new security guidance to its staff.

Famously, there is in their foreign policy calculus.
Now we'll see nothing when people celebrate Dick Cheney's death because he's not "in" with or important to the modern fascist movement that BlueSky is desperately trying to woo and join.

As evidence: Fuck you Dick Cheney, you'll never escape hell and all your neocon friends will join you.
"How casually are they using the kind of exploits L3 is developing against civil society?" is the most alarming and least clear part of the story.
More details here but again,
the part of this story that is ⁉️ to me is ... who was targeting the ex-employees phone? Was it L3, the FBI, just a co-incidence?
NEW: How former Trenchant boss Peter Williams stole zero-days worth millions of dollars, based on court documents and interviews with former colleagues.

A former Trenchant employee said “no one had any supervision over [Williams] at all. He was kind of allowed to do things the way he wanted to.”

Peter Williams sold eight exploits to a Russian zero-day broker by smuggling them from his employer’s highly secured air-gapped network. A court document, plus exclusive reporting by TechCrunch and in...

Because of an onslaught of AI-generated research, specifically in the computer science (CS) section, arXiv is going to limit which papers can be published.

@mjgault.bsky.social has more:
massive ALPR and face recognition surveillance network for thee, but not for me.

pretty normal for state enforcers to not want records of their activities, right?

Watch out for the people who stand up and salute for this one, because they will do that for more or less anything.
Worth noting from Kim Zetter at Wired, that the contract, etc was under a pseudonym. He wasn't signing as his real name.

So it's not *quite* as bad

GrapheneOS is great and I recommend it all the time for Android users who are concerned about spying by governments and law enforcement.
"We’ve reached out to Google to inquire about why a custom ROM created by volunteers [@grapheneos.org] is more resistant to industrial phone hacking than the official Pixel OS. We’ll update this article if Google has anything to say." arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025...
Leaker reveals which Pixels are vulnerable to Cellebrite phone hacking
Cellebrite can apparently extract data from most Pixel phones, unless they’re running GrapheneOS.

Someone recently managed to get on a Microsoft Teams call with representatives from phone hacking company Cellebrite, and then leaked a screenshot of the company’s capabilities against many Google Pixel phones

The leaked slide focuses on Google Pixel phones and mentions those running the security-focused GrapheneOS operating system.

One of the things, aside from nobody talking anymore about the employee being targeted and the timing of the reporting, is that people (in this case ex-spooks themselves) are still writing justifications for law enforcement to have these powers.

Despite what we all see and know it's being used for.
Still no real clear explanation as to the random employee who got got by his own ex-employer as part of the investigation.
BREAKING: ex-L3Harris exec Peter Williams pleads guilty to two counts of theft of trade secrets, sold eight exploits to Russian zero-day purchasing company. Sentencing in January 2026. Story to come.

Wow - those are quite phenomenal headlines given the details of the story.

Ahh look, he’s just a ‘nerdy’ guy. No harm done.

You need to scroll down to paragraph 13 of the Sky piece to find the full story!

I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.
