have decided to do a purge of not very good flannels because they took up way too much space in my drawer. what follows is a very scientific ranking.

weird texture but nice weight. strangely stiff, cut short. makes you look like a steven universe background character. ultimately awkward. 4/10, toss

ah, see, i wisely planned to support my art and became a USian public school teacher, a reliably remunerative and secure career that's great for your blood pressure and leaves lots of energy at the end of the day for creative pursuits. completely gray hair at 38 is extremely normal
I know we know this, but authors need to get better at talking about how they actually make their money. Stop pretending it's from the books.

ban all adaptations, sequels, and remakes
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

...I will survive only if it is a situation that can be diffused by a hackneyed speech about friendship

sat down and dashed off two basically complete first draft flash stories today. i suspect one of them might be an unsalvageable mess but still! haven't done that in a while.

since i came into possession of a steamer basket i have been able to experimentally determine the upper limit on good dumplings i can eat and the results are... look, science doesn't have all the answers
my problem with gyoza is that they normally come in an order of about 6, but what I really need is 100 of them

living with a clever African grey parrot has its challenges, like hearing the voice of my dead grandmother on the reg, or my dad calling me from downstairs only to reveal he is asleep, and Tito cackling, but when he imitates the smoke alarm while I'm cooking? that feels mean

3, 6, and 7 are pretty much my whole thanksgiving dinner every year, plus cranberries. all the turkey and stuffing in the world could be carried off by a mysterious whirlwind and i wouldn't notice
with charity and goodwill, i must here part ways with rolls.

november is just backwards march, but it's so much pleasanter. it's cozy to put the year to bed and a pain in the ass to drag it back out again

i actually like microgenres so long as they are descriptive and not prescriptive. it's neat to notice little recurring themes and connections and explorations. i've proposed a few. oldest daughter horror. sensiblecore. i think i may be developing a strain i'm going to call "haunted forest preserves"

time to brave the store crammed with people who never cook in service of the dullest meal of the year

ok after blundering around for an hour, this game is very fun even when you get chucked out of the succession in the first chapter like i did. my second prince of xuan blundered around uselessly while various competent women saved his ass. will try again with more canniness next time

ah shit the dialogue has subtitles but none of the text is translated. hope I can save the realm without ...reading. anything.
gonna try that game that lets you basically play through a cdrama. this monster is full fmv and still 1/2 the size of the most recent dragon age, 1/3 of a call of duty

i never know how to write a cover letter someplace that's published me before. the stiff form letter that's such a comfort elsewhere feels weird, especially to an editor i worked with a lot, but so does "hey guy got another one for you, be nice if you don't like it"

now that my last story of the year's out i suppose i should do a round-up?

first back in april, Bite by Bite and Lie by Lie in @smallwondersmag.com, a story with a first draft entitled Eat God and Don't Die
