I wrote this a couple of years ago to practice vector-based movement in @monogame.net. I'm so happy I did because it's about to be the ⭐ of Monday's lecture on AI movement in games.

🕹️👾💻

Thanks @elthen.bsky.social for the awesome gremlin sprites. Still my fave.

What happens when the player looks down?🍄✨🔮

Last week some behind the scenes footage of our game went viral. We got heaps of comments from people wondering if players could see between the thousands of hand drawn illustrations that make up our world.

This might look like a follow up textbook, but it's actually a cleverly disguised follow up portal to writing your own games with @monogame.net.

Learn #MonoGame. Make games.

(out soon!!!)

Just saying (again).

The "using AI to generate concept art early in the process to quickly iterate ideas" thing is so absurd to me because like. You don't know what concept art is. You don't know what concept art *does*.

Here’s a demo showing more of a #MonoGame Lobby system where you wait for everyone to be ready before jumping into battle - www.youtube.com/watch?v=0wup... . Link to Source Code in the video’s description. 3/3

A key difference here is that while either can be incorrect, the structure of Wikipedia *creates context* and the structure of LLMs *destroys context*

Wikipedia has linked sources and an edit history showing where information came from and who added it when

An LLM just generates text

Some of the anti-AI stuff feels a bit like when people would say "don't use Wikipedia as a source." It's just like anything else, a piece of information that you weigh against multiple sources and your own understanding of its likely failure modes

4+ years between first and fifth? I guess physical games were still the norm back then.

lol, judge away. So much Torchlight and Awesomenauts for my kid.

Post a screenshot of your first 5 Steam purchases and let Bluesky judge you

I played the demo and picked it up as soon as the full game is released. Highly recommend.

No, I was hoping you had ideas. All of the examples from my upcoming book are hosted on GitHub currently. I can't rewrite the references in my book, but I could put a page pointing somewhere else, I think.

If you find somewhere else, maybe you can update here?

OpenAI doesn't realise that PhD-level expertise has very little to do with the stuff you know and more to do with how you can think. I forget facts from mine all the time!

The value in my PhD is knowing how to reliably generate, evaluate, and defend or dismiss information that's new to the world.

OpenAI: we’re giving you PhD-level expertise in your pocket!

Everyone with PhDs: I know exactly who you’re automating and I hate him

Great move by Denmark: "The Danish government is to clamp down on the creation and dissemination of AI-generated deepfakes by changing copyright law to ensure that everybody has the right to their own body, facial features and voice."
