It was a year ago today that I unknowingly began reenacting the dancing epidemic of 1518 in my kitchen. I was trying to figure out why I always had to quit regular exercise due to pain. In 5 months, I'll know if my interventions make a difference, or if the Sun still decides.

If every CEO was forced to pay every worker at least 1/100th of their total compensation, we'd have $100,000 janitors with stock options overnight.

At a glance, I thought this looked a lot like The Tornado.

pioneer of kinetic and welded art
named Constructivism in a manifesto he coauthored with his brother
married art with mathematics
created pieces that displayed colors through the interaction of light

Antoine Pevsner saw it.

Ritual is survival, now and always.
“Ritual” is such a great way to orient oneself & feel sane through this insanity!

& I am not referring to churchy things, at least not primarily.

I mean:

Personal grooming rituals

Managing-tasks rituals

Rituals in contacting or seeing friends/family at certain times

Bedtime rituals

Etc

A blessed My Water Pipes Are Frozen Day to all who celebrate!

It's just the kitchen sink and the toilet this time, so not even a big deal.

a popular thing to do in Harrisville is to search the beach south of town for worn out grinding stones made out of volcanic rock. A local business dumped them in the lake for years.

I'm convinced that gated ion channels are the source of auras on people, too. The brightness indicates the strength of your current, while the color shows how and where the ions flow.

The brighter your own aura is, your electromagnetism, charisma, the more likely you are to see the aura of others.
Take two nails & connect them to an open electrical circuit. Stick a deli pickle between them, creating an ionic bridge that closes the circuit.

You get the glowing pickle experiment: you're seeing sodium ions in the pickle brine being excited & emitting yellow light at ~589 nm.

In Perry Mason times, a man could get on an airplane under an assumed name and start a new life. The means existed to track everyone, but tracking of adults by the government in any way was considered an intrusion of privacy, and also obviously not what Jesus would do.

On the eve of 2001, a friend and I decided impulsively to spend the turn of the year in Canada. We barely made it because I forgot my ID and had to turn back for it.

The booth worker asked how long we planned to be there and then let us in without looking at our IDs.

One the coldest days of the winter, I always think of Angelique Mott and her snares.
"In 1845, a woman named Angelique and her husband Charlie Mott were left on Isle Royale in July and were stranded there until the next Spring. Their provisions consisted of a half-barrel of flour, six pounds of butter, and some beans. A supply boat had been promised them, it never arrived."

It's -4 outside and a murder of blue jays has taken up residence at our bird feeder. There are six all together. The other two are hanging out with a different woodpecker.

If someone you love ever smells like rotten lunchmeat, recognize that it's a sign of metabolic acidosis. Bodies become more acidic when they're not able to make enough energy. Weight freefalls as muscle is consumed, clothes get baggy. Taking aspirin can make it a lot worse.

I usually do a "no spend pantry challenge" in January, but accidently stopped buying groceries in November.

Related, my 2025 resolutions were to stop buying commercial bread, freeze lunches for my partner to take to work, and no more pre-roasted coffee or brands traded on the NYSE.

WE DID IT!

Explaining to my dad yesterday that he is colorblind. I know for sure because I'm colorblind and obviously his daughter. He doesn't believe me. No one argues with a grown man about colors. He is 73a and no one has pulled him aside to tell him.

Dancing plague always starts so innocently. Oddly enough, the first sign of it is a decision to grow my hair out in autumn, but by now, I'm pacing around.

Been sitting around in silence for weeks due to headaches, but woke up with "Mississippi Mambo" in my head and had to dance to it.
