The Bad Bunny show was so good, but it is very funny to imagine the alternate universe that these freaks wanted, where a stadium of tens of thousands of people had to watch a 70 year old man lip sync raps about underage women, then ran a 10 minute in memorium reel for a podcaster

I think it's interesting to compare energy infrastructure investment to transportation in the US. The former we mostly leave to private or subnational actors to figure out (except some grants and tax credits), while the latter is almost exclusively financed by feds and states. 1/x

Folks, I too am cheered by the data, but: one of the great challenges we still face is teaching and showing people how “deporting people with criminal records” has been Not What They Think, since Clinton signed IIRIRA in 1996. You can get deported for a minor theft, like stealing a gift card.
Striking from Marquette poll:

Majorities of non-college grads and even 50% of rural Americans disapprove of ICE handling of enforcement. Majorities of both oppose deporting longtime residents with jobs/no criminal records.

That's data given to me. 2/

In a city long defined by conflict, Somalia ’s capital of Mogadishu now echoes with the crash of pins at the country’s first modern bowling alley.

It’s the latest sign of revival in the once-thriving Indian Ocean port shaped by 35 years of civil war and militant bombings.

She’s not wrong. The whites will take a surveillance state long before training their dog or getting to know and speak to their neighbors.
I tell you what, Ring figured out exactly how to weaponize white people’s empathy in service to a corporately controlled surveillance state.

It’s the weekend everyone, so you know what that means. Time to drink two polar seltzers and do a thread on the power transformer shortage. Without transformers, we don’t get a clean energy transition. And as energysky knows, there’s been a shortage due to covid, supply chain, & labor constraints 🔌🔋

this is a function of the current state of the media economy. there are fewer projects being developed, which means fewer jobs available. meanwhile, super bowl commercials have become tentpole productions with movie-sized budgets and are able to pay talent in a way that the studios aren't
Used to be a time when movie stars would go overseas to do commercials because it was beneath them to do ads.

Now we have A list actors doing full on ad campaigns for tech bro companies.
