The reason why DHS can't be reformed is that something like this isn't just the uniformed brutes of ICE & other depts; It's also how many people passively complying with moving the paperwork along and things like that. Too many people who seem to be able to live with themselves after participating.
HAPPENING NOW: DHS just expedited Liam Conejo Ramos' asylum hearing to this morning, meaning it's possible the five-year-old and his family could be deported as soon as today.

The reason why DHS can't be reformed is that something like this isn't just the uniformed brutes of ICE & other depts; It's also how many people passively complying with moving the paperwork along and things like that. Too many people who seem to be able to live with themselves after participating.

4 years ago I was at a conference talking to a colleague from Iowa. The coop he worked for had a long term contract for power from Duane Arnold nuclear plant, but the IPP owner had just decided to rapidly mothball it. He said he didn't know where they were going to get new capacity on short notice

Council Member Vetaw argues against rental assistance money with anecdotes. Says she's heard from people who applied and weren't approved. Some of the most vulnerable people. Sounds like her argument is the money just disappears into a black hole and doesn't help people.

I came for a visit in the summer of 1999 and loved it so much I moved here a year later. Both Saint Paul and Minneapolis are each great cities in their right but truly at their best when experienced as The Twin Cities.
Axios had a story today about how hard Minnesota’s economy is being hit and how slow the recovery could be. So, I’m going to take this opportunity to say that if you want to support the Twin Cities, you should plan a visit for this summer, spend some money here, & see how amazing it is for yourself.
