@mattzollerseitz.bsky.social is such a good writer. Tears at the end, especially because I held River Phoenix so dear, and his death when I was the same age altered my life in some ways. And now Reiner. When someone leaves us this way...there aren't enough words.

Rob Reiner Was Good
The beloved director was better than most at making classic movies, Hollywood careers, and California policy change.

It's kinda Christmas...but, always The Sure Thing, a not-seen-enough early film from Rob Reiner...which I was watching last night when I heard the terrible news.
What holiday movie do you rewatch every year? 🎄

BEYOND TOMORROW (aka BEYOND CHRISTMAS) 1940. Three wealthy, lonely, and kindly old men befriend two young people in NYC on Christmas Eve. After becoming fast friends, the three men die in a plane crash and use their last remaining time on Earth trying to help their new friends. Fucking ADORABLE.

Oh wow what a thread
When Rob Reiner was on his all-time epic run at the start of his career, he had an opportunity to read a script that was looking for a production partner, and he lost his mind for it. He decided Castle Rock had to have it, no matter what.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

There are some scenes in cinema that I have always found calming somehow. This is one of them. "A luncheon date downtown."

I had a lot of driving this week. I listened to the whole discography of The Mavericks and El Maestro as I traveled all over the Midwest. A lot of tears. A lot of serendipitous moments with the landscape. Hit shuffle on this playlist. Improve your mood, your life.

Hey...we now have definitive proof that KISS was never Rock and Roll. And maybe the urban myth acronym thing was real after all: Knights In Satan's Service.

This composition had eluded me for nearly a decade, but yesterday I was finally able to capture it. A train rolled through just as the Duquesne Incline was crossing over the tracks in #Pittsburgh, creating a picture perfect winter scene. It was worth the hours and hours I've waited over the years.

I have nothing in common with the Democratic party any more. MTG is right: both parties are equally corrupt. Condemning "the horrors" of Socialism is such a joke: you're happy with the way capitalism is treating us now?? Actually don't answer that. You clearly are.
Huh. So the Dems voted against SS and disability I see. Because those are socialism. So are fire departments, police, transit, highway/road building and maintenance. They shouldn’t be agreeing to anything the GOP puts forward. Oh! Don’t forget education! Public School is socialism.
Hakeem Jeffries was literally voting for a resolution condemning socialism while this meeting was taking place
