It was also very special to speak with Francesca for the episode and hear about her experience with anorexia, and the breakthrough after taking psilocybin. My goal with that interview was to humanize anorexia for folks who aren't familiar. Francesca made my job easy open.spotify.com/episode/6UlV...

No medication has ever been approved to treat anorexia. And the standard of care - therapy - often fails. But researchers are hopeful that psilocybin-assisted therapy could change that. And the science that underpins that hope is honestly extremely interesting! open.spotify.com/episode/6UlV...

Today's episode of Altered States is one I'm especially happy to share: it's about the increasing excitement that eating disorder researchers are feeling around the potential use of psilocybin-assisted therapy to treat anorexia 1/5

Well well well, will you look at this.
Whoa: A federal court just barred Texas from using its new congressional map, drawn by the GOP to target Dems.

"Substantial evidence shows that Texas racially gerrymandered the 2025 Map."

Court says the old map must be used in 2026. Appeals are certain. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

You can disagree and argue as much as you like but the point of evaluating something scientifically is that not every statement should be given equal credence because evidence matters
JD Vance: "Science as practiced in its best form is that if you disagree with it, then you ought to criticize it and you ought to argue against it."

just a thought — maybe instead of "video podcasts"... you could just call them "talk shows"? Because that's really what these things are at this point.

(I say this as a person who has hosted multiple podcasts AND a TV talk show...)

looks like "fairness in girls' sports" wasn't the unbeatable wedge issue you thought it was, was it? kinda makes you look like a dumbass, huh?

NEWS: The Trump admin's decision to suspend SNAP benefits due to the shutdown has been blocked. In two cases, both judges found the government action is likely illegal. Although a judge in Mass gave the admin until Monday to reverse course, a judge in Rhode Island issued a TRO from the bench today.

Yikes! This is fake news. More trans kids felt safe to come out, now they don't. Government's are painting a target on the back of trans kids backs, forcing them tk stay in the closet.

Yes, and...

You'll notice that the NYT's both sides "but" usually tees up RW talking points. Imagine if, instead, they reversed it:

"Critics say that [blah blah], but supporters claim his degree laid a foundation for his campaign message that is resonating with New Yorkers"

Very different effect!
One of the most psychotic both-sides headlines I've ever seen

I’m sorry, if someone has a birth certificate that proves they were born here but a mobile app with face recognition software disagrees, they will side with the app?

What?
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Sorry I refuse to entertain the complete non-existent world where white people don’t know that countless cultures, including some of their own but certainly diasporic racialized ones, call their mom’s cousin’s friend’s sister they grew up with “cousin” and call close women elders “aunt/auntie”

The key bit of the story is she exists (unlike the fictional couple Schumer made up) and she was afraid to wear her hijab because of Islamophobia.

That she was technically an older cousin, he called his aunt is not a story.
