Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.

Kemi Badenoch claiming Terry Pratchett as her favourite author is wild

I sometimes worry I exaggerate the collective madness of our media but the people who cheered Brexit, Boris Johnson & Liz Truss's mini-budget are now applauding Kemi Badenoch's speech. 'Parallell universe' doesn't come close. I suppose her not falling over is a win of sorts for them at the moment.

I didn't go and see Prince in Leeds in 2014 as I refused to pay over £100 for a ticket. Then a couple of years later I wished I had :(

My Dad used to tell us he once took Sandra Dorne on a date. She was plain old Joan Smith from Keighley in West Yorkshire then.

tbt the time a drunk was trying to insult one of the bouncers on the high street and got the devastating response "oh look, someone who doesn't matter has said something that isn't true". I often think about this when not replying to tweets

Happy National Poetry Day to all those who celebrate.

This year’s theme is ‘play’ so here’s a poem which plays with some letters. It’s called ‘The Problem of Writing Poems in the Shape of Deciduous Trees’.
The Problem of Writing Poems
in the Shape of Deciduous Trees

[The poem has been written in the shape of a deciduous tree with letters (or ‘leaves’) missing from the text]:

a comm n

p ems in the shape of decid o s
trees is t at once t ere ar ives the fir t
sti rings of  he new aut mn breeze,  he

ge tly  ntil their letters loos n

like leaves, an
they
start
to
float
down
then

[The missing letters from the tree have landed on the last line to form the phrase]

turntomushuponthegroun

[The final ‘d’ is floating down to complete the phrase.]

It's a shame the BBC website doesn't even mention his passing (the 'Culture' section tells us Selena Gomez has got married though 🙄)

UPEND THE ESTABLISHMENT, by voting for a party composed entirely of rejects from the oldest party in the country that was in power for 14 years. 😂

Reform UK increasingly look like the Tories just ran off stage, then ran back on wearing a comedy glasses-nose-moustache disguise.

Here I am holding two thoughts in my head at the same time again - Charlie Kirk had utterly appalling views. Charlie Kirk's death is appalling. Phew...I might go for a lie down now.

Here are some things that Charlie Kirk said in his life.

The man is dead, and so it only seems fair to share his legacy by cataloguing the values he spread while alive.
