I have contacted Battersea to adopt a cat. That is all.
Spotted in Hackney today - and shared without comment. Though for clarity, I have no objection to anyone flying flags.
Having just been in the Lake District … ‘Hi, I’m Beatrix Potter, and I write and illustrate beautiful stories of animals for children. I then use the money earned to save swathes of this glorious part of the world from greedy developers.’ no yes yes.
The reason the Right are so invested in the myth that the arts have no value isn’t because the arts don’t generate wealth (they do); it’s that studying the arts teaches people to imagine better ways of judging the value of an idea than by counting how much money it makes…
Yes, yes, yes - a thousand times over.

Totally agree. Though his ‘Piopi’ diet wasn’t quite keto, but more Mediterranean diet.
Malhotra used to be worth listening to on certain things, but he (and others) have gone right down the rabbit hole since the onset of the pandemic.
Hackney, this morning. Designated parking space - plus pavement parking by selfish a-holes.
Just photographed this in Hackney. Not a rarity. There’s a pedestrian crossing just to the left as you look at this photo. Uber Lime is a parasitic business, enabling entitled, antisocial behaviour.

What utter dickheads we are…

Rayner fought for workers: sick pay, maternity rights, protection from unfair dismissal

Farage and his MPs voted it down

Rayner gets binned over £40k in stamp duty

Farage dodges £44k, shrugs & strolls on

The mega wealthy win again.

I will never not understand how a minority of people have decided that wind farms - significantly prettier than pylons, coal power plants, nuclear power plants, and almost certainly fusion power plants - are ugly. In terms of energy generation, what else are you hoping for that is better?
On holiday, I notice that there are wind turbines on the shore of Lake Garda, which very much makes me think that residents with a view of some incredibly mid Cotswold or other can put a sock in it.
The test cricket at Old Trafford … OMG!

Word of the day is ‘swullocking’, from 19th-century East Anglian dialect: sultry, sweltering, and sudiferous (sweat-inducing).

Liz Truss has warned the British Museum against losing its marbles. Ironic, really.

WTF?!? Border Czar Tom Homan claimed that ICE and Border Patrol agents don’t need probable cause to detain people they suspect are undocumented, saying they can do so based on factors like physical appearance. This is straight-up racial profiling, not law enforcement.

The Telegraph today carries a news story about someone paying £7.4 million for a handbag (Hello, Lady Bracknell!). And an opinion piece describing a wealth tax as a ‘moral abomination’. What a time to be alive.
Wait until the silly season really gets going.

Hospitals are supposed to be where the suffering stops.

In Gaza, they are where the killing continues.

Channel 4's Gaza: Doctors Under Attack has exposed a terror campaign that sends a horrifying message:

No One Is Safe.
Not Even Here.
No One Is Safe. Not Even Here.
The destruction of Gaza’s hospitals marks a terrifying breach in the idea that healthcare is ever off-limits.

The proliferation of these groups is a bit odd given it's all the same people on all of them. (And they have fairly similar policy views to most of the existing right-wing think tanks).
'Fix Britain', 'Anglo-Futurist Institute', 'Resolute 1850', 'Prosperity Institute' - feels like it's all happening quite fast
