Wisconsin already has among the harsher rules in the country — since many people who're not presently in prison are barred from voting because they're on parole and probation.

Roughly half the states in the nation allow anyone not in prison to vote, including recently in neighboring Minnesota:

I fear it's being overlooked that next term, the Supreme Court will likely strike down:

•what's left of the Voting Rights Act
•all bans on LGBTQ conversion therapy for minors
•the last remaining pillar of McCain–Feingold's campaign finance reform

... while upholding bans on trans student athletes.

Exclusive: US diplomats asked if non-whites qualify for Trump refugee program for South Africans
In early July, the top official at the U.S. embassy in South Africa reached out to Washington asking for clarification on a contentious U.S. policy: could non-whites apply for a refugee program geared toward white South Africans if they met other requirements?

Vexatious litigation initiated or funded by right wing billionaires is one of the more potent attacks on free speech.
Between Musk & the Trump administration, Media Matters has been squeezed to the brink. In settlement discussions, lawyers for X demanded the organization hand over all its cash and shut down — all because MM reported ads appeared on X next to antisemitic content. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/25/u...

When the minimum wage doesn’t go up, it goes down in buying power. The federal minimum wage has been stuck at $7.25 per hour since July 24, 2009.

The federal minimum wage peaked in buying power way back in 1968, when it was worth $15.09 in 2025 dollars.
Opinion: 16 years with minimum wage falling further behind the cost of living
Opinion: Raising the minimum wage is good for business as well as workers.

Both of these designations date back to 1999, meaning Trump wants to strip legal status from people here legally who have had a background check every 18 months for the last 26 years.
