The Administration

- raised taxes on clean energy with one big beautiful bill

- is stopping or making clean energy projects harder to be built

- is raising prices on materials with tariffs

- all while AI is spiking electricity demand

They are stopping supply while demand goes up

It’s a crisis

"Esmeralda 7 was supposed to produce a gargantuan 6.2 gigawatts of power – equal to nearly all the power supplied to southern Nevada by the state's primary public utility."

same except i’ve been quilt life only (which i guess is a bedspread?? discuss…) for a while now bc i got sick of lumpy duvets. but i think we might try dueling duvets like in europe!
allidejong.bsky.social
I think of all three as different things! Duvet is an insert w/a removable cover, comforter doesn’t need a separate cover but can technically be used like a duvet, bedspread is a thinner top blanket like a doily for the bed

Like I guess of course it would be a voice vote with little strategic importance and go almost completely unnoticed? but like… it matters. it was a catastrophic mistake and I actually never thought they’d repeal it???

Wait did they actually repeal the AUMF

That's it. Thanks again for following.

Think of how many have died in the last year, but also, had this deal been signed in October 2024, would we also be in the middle of a fascist regime occupying big cities today?

The case for renewables I hear all the time is something like "Ignore emissions, we can do this faster than gas" and that may be true about combined-cycle power plants, but it may be much less true with using cheap turbines behind the meter heatmap.news/energy/natur...
Data Centers Have Solved Their Speed-to-Power Problem — With Natural Gas
“Old economy” companies like Caterpillar and Williams are cashing in by selling smaller, less-efficient turbines to impatient developers.

It’s very cool that a judge has to ask the department of justice “is it really wise to defer to the president if he’s deranged and everyone around him is lying to him?”
jonseidel.bsky.social
Perry asks, what if the president is relying on "completely invalid evidence?"

"What if DHS folks are not tethered to reality in their assessment of events. Does that matter?"

Hamilton: "A couple points …"

Perry: "Are you aware that a federal judge found that ICE violated the First and Fourth Amendments rights of peaceful protestors at Broadview?"
She says that will inform her conclusion about the need for National Guard troops.
Hamilton: You must defer to the president

Watching the way the Trump administration is using criminalization as a weapon ought to make clear how criminalization works even in normal times.

These thirty seconds show a scandal of unbelievable proportion and it might as well never have happened. Just sucked into the vacuum of history immediately. I can't dwell on it or I'll go crazy.

Q: Have you given any more thought to possibly suspending habeas corpus?

TRUMP: Suspending who?

Q: Habeas corpus

TRUMP: I don't know. I'd rather leave that to Kristi.

Ominous warning for humanity as birds suddenly adopt 'unsettling' behavior

Researchers have found that birds are abandoning their usual migration patterns, with warmer temperatures in winter habitats disrupting their annual flights. This could lead to many bird species dying out.

This South Side Weekly report on the Chicago building raid is well worth reading. Most striking to me are the indications of collusion between federal authorities and the building owner and management to effect a mass eviction at the blighted property. southsideweekly.com/federal-agen...

I just cannot get over that there are TROOPS from another state in my city without the express consent of my mayor and governor. The demented president is ruling by decree and ~40% of this country does not recognize this as monarchism. The legislature refuses to meet and has shut down the government
