Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Hot take: The "Phantom Tollbooth" characters King Azaz and his brother, the Mathemagician, are prefigured by two 9th century Byzantine intellectuals, Patriarch John VII, known as John the Grammarian, and his cousin, the archbishop of Thessalonica known as Leo the Mathematician.

Kalergi spent decades looking for The Guy who would unite Europe - Masaryk, Briand, Mussolini, Churchill, De Gaulle - and in the end it was Monnet who did it. Europe doesn’t need a charismatic hero, it needs an institutionalist

Are people still talking about how wonderful and lovely the queen was when she was literally covering up for her literal paedophile son who literally abused children. That she knew about it and pretected him, using the fortune she stole from all of us to do it.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor will be failing victims if he continues to refuse to testify about his relationship with the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Sir Keir Starmer has said
Starmer tells Andrew: Testify or you’re failing Epstein victims

Probably accurately depicts the reaction of many locals to the events of that particular decade... (British Museum)

Can’t decide if Tolkien would be delighted or horrified that a politician would reach for Grima Wormtongue over Iago or Lady Macbeth here
Retiring GOP Senator Thom Tillis calls Noem and Miller sycophants. Note his avoidance of any criticisms of the person who hired and directs the actions of those two people.

Once when I was in Sweden on the national cinnamon bun day, I popped into a shop to buy some of the freshly baked ones on sale, and I saw the guy right in front of me literally lick his lips, before proceeding to bag up every bun they had for sale

Profoundly American in the best possible way. The old Puritan fire burning through
Judge Biery signed the order with a photo of Liam and two bible verses: The first is "But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The second is simply "Jesus wept."

Astonishing thing for a judge to do.

You can always blame Mitch McConnell for the current situation. It will always be correct
Mitch McConnell basically destroyed the American republic by removing impeachment as a viable tool.
