I like the contemporary room at the National Portrait Gallery, or as I call it, "The People who've Blocked Me on Twitter Gallery"
Bit of a brown trousers vibe here
Bessent: "Everyone take a deep breath. Do not escalate. Do not escalate. President Trump has a strategy here. Hear him out and then everything will be fine."

Fun fact: Britain and France are now the only two members of the UN Security Council who aren't obsessed with annexing a nearby country!

Absolute end of an era with the death of Valentino Garavani. Last of the mid-century greats. In the 2008 documentary Valentino: The Last Emperor (highly recommended), Karl Lagerfeld takes him aside and says "Compared to us the rest are making rags" and he was sort of right.

It's Sunday evening in a wet cold January so I'm definitely watching Porco Rosso.

We were deriding you because you are patently unwilling to fund a viable alternative to consensual US hegemony in democratic Europe. You’d get to preen if you’d been calling for massive defence spending hikes, an independent nuclear deterrent, minimising out-of-home-theatre commitments and so on.
When we said NATO wasn't working we were derided.

When we said a nuclear weapons system relying on the US is dangerous we were called stupid.

The truth is the establishment are more interested in kissing US feet than keeping the UK safe.

It's time for a rethink.

Lol no, you absolute rube
If we hadn't been complicit on Palestine; if we hadn't appeased Trump on Venezuela, might the Global Majority have stood alongside Europe, with all of us stronger, on Greenland?

Good to see the Greens come out for increased defence spending and UK-built nuclear launch capacity.

When someone literally tells you they plan to do populism it's very much on you if you end up falling for it.

Just tasted baked beans for the first time in 20 years due to their erroneous inclusion in a toastie I ordered. They're still completely and utterly repellent, you sick freaks.

Really fascinating - essentially none of this has even made it into the shops now Spring Summer has landed. Total airbrush, pretend it never happened. Not a brass accessory in sight (that really was something I bet the buyers threw up over, tbh).
Dario Vitale out at Versace after one collection. Hard to disagree - while the vibe was horny, I imagine the orders from buyers over the last couple of months were a disaster. And rightly so - if people want vintage Versace Jeans they can just buy vintage Versace Jeans. All that brass not gold.

I'm watching His and Hers on Netflix. Quality sexy thriller but the female protagonist drives Chekhov's Car.

Chekhov's Car is an older luxury car that looks expensive to most but through its low value guarantees that it's going to be crashed when the plot demands it, so one is just waiting for it

Not only should the govt ban Twitter, it should ban all foreign owned and controlled social media. I'll see you all on OnlyFans!

Microsoft's own documentation says that Copilot is great, except for those rare circumstances where you're using your spreadsheet to do something with numbers, look up data, do finances, or need it to consistently return the same result.

Other than those outliers, you're grand.

I'm still watching and I'm just increasingly mesmerised by how very strange Sarah Paulson's entire performance is. The voice, the faces, the hair. It's like she's dropped out of a different and maybe even worse show, but not American Horror Story.
I think as a Christmas game everyone should watch #AllsFair and try and find something awful that no-one else has mentioned yet. It's a target-rich environment.

I'm nominating the decision to have Naomi Watts mostly, but not consistently, use her natural accent.
