crazy how i went from wishing and aiming to one day work at Notable Studio over the years, pursuing the studio when I was active in the industry, to now not wanting to work AT ALL for them because I would not work for a place that asked me to use AI.

This is simply not technically possible. You cannot generate enough writing in-house to train an LLM. You cannot generate enough art in-house to train a GAN. People who think they have a model "trained on our own material" are using a base model of mass-scraped data, unknowingly or disingenuously.
Larian CEO says Divinity could have gen AI assets in it but only if the tools are trained on the studio's own data.

im so glad i picked up a lovely comfortable jetstream uniball pen when i was in japan because they include the refill model number on the label on the pen so i can ACTUALLY order refills and reuse it without stumbling around looking for a refill that feels the same as the original ballpoint

Please, even if you don't CARE if genAI is used for something like this, at the very least understand that actors were striking with genuine concerns and that Mihoyo, who just last month posted job applications for opportunities to work on their games using AI, do not have their protections in mind.
Anyway here's Mihoyo promoting AI assisted game production including:
"Efficiency in Image and Material Generation
With very few materials, they can generate character model sheets + 3D models, allowing for the testing of multiple designs and their artistic outcomes."
Something to keep an eye on.

Please, even if you don't CARE if genAI is used for something like this, at the very least understand that actors were striking with genuine concerns and that Mihoyo, who just last month posted job applications for opportunities to work on their games using AI, do not have their protections in mind.
