Homebound for last couple of years with headaches, but things could be worse.
Not a happy ending for Robert Kraft and the Patriots...

Banal white supremacism. WaPo inadvertently repeats that the u.s. is racialized as white and english-speaking.

Even though Bad Bunny is a US citizen, he "illustrates the nation's immigration divide" simply because he is not white and sings in spanish.
The Super Bowl halftime show, with Bad Bunny showcasing Latin music before a global television audience expected to top 100 million, will illustrate the nation’s immigration divide whether or not the reggaeton star delivers an explicit political message.
The enthusiasm — and scorn — surrounding Bad Bunny’s star turn at the Super Bowl
The halftime show will illustrate the nation’s immigration divide whether or not the reggaeton star makes an explicit message about Trump’s deportation drive.

It really pays to remind ourselves frequently that this whole immigration "crisis" is made up out of whole cloth. There was no emergency, danger or problem, only a demagogue stirring up racist grievances for political advantage.

Is the racist video that Trump posted in anyway useful in fighting deportations?

Can it be used in the courts to demonstrate that the ICE surges are about racism (which most people agree is the case) and not about enforcing immigration laws?

NEW: A federal judge in Oregon issued a sweeping rebuke of the Justice Department’s nationwide push to seize state voter rolls, ruling that the department can no longer be presumed to be acting in good faith and warning that its conduct threatens voters and states’ rights.
Federal judge rules DOJ can ‘no longer’ be trusted in voter roll crusade
The judge pointed to a letter from Bondi to Minnesota that tied federal immigration enforcement to demands for voter data as the smoking gun.

Seeing videos of elected officials that are horribly mad.... so mad that they just need ICE to be a bit more humane and then it will be ok.

Chuck Schumer is working to keep two right wing governments funded.

Apparently he believes that is his job.

We didn't say body cams on ICE. Their murders are already on video. We said no more ICE.

Having spent billions on questionably necessary construction projects over the past decade because of vibes or something, the time has come for hard choices.

Key quote from the judge's order releasing Liam Ramos & his father: "Observing human behavior confirms that for some among us, the perfidious lust for unbridled power and the imposition of cruelty in its quest know no bounds and are bereft of human decency. And the rule of law be damned."
Federal judge has ordered the release of Liam Ramos (the bunny hat boy) and his father. A brief and rather remarkable order. Clearly written to be shared widely, so please do. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Seeing that photo of Obama putting the Medal of Freedom on Tom Homan circulate again. It's fake. Homan did get a civil service award during the Obama administration, but it wasn't the Medal of Freedom, it wasn't a medal (it was a certificate), and Obama didn't present it to him in person.

Anyone mentioned in the awful Epstein files needs to have their security clearances(if they have them) revoked immediately. Even if they are not compromised they have shown themselves to lack judgement necessary to have access to sensitive information.

Do the Epstein files have enough information in them for probable cause to at the very least run cadaver dogs over some golf courses?

Discworld QOTD, from The Last Continent

‘“We put all our politicians in prison as soon as they’re elected. Don’t you?”

“Why?”

“It saves time.”’
Discworld QOTD, from Thud!

“Beating people up in little rooms…he knew where that led. And if you did it for a good reason, you’d do it for a bad one. You couldn’t say ‘We’re the good guys’ and do bad-guy things.”
Discworld QOTD, from Making Money

"‘Even tyrants have to obey the law.’ He paused, looking thoughtful, and continued: ‘No, I tell a lie, tyrants do not have to obey the law, obviously, but they do have to observe the niceties.’"
