umm, there will always be an amount of waste in any system, maybe don't hyper-fixate on that if it means that a lot of people can be lifted out of poverty

i think a big hurdle to get over for people is the maturity to want something good for everyone, even that guy you don't like. i remember talking to people i know about UBI a while ago, and it was like "what if 'they' spend it on drugs?"

turns out the general public likes if you have an actual, understandable message that speaks to their day to day lives and is not just "well i'm not that guy" or "i dislike a very specific group of people"
