Trump IS bamboozled about Greenland, it is NOT a huge country. It appears large because it is displayed using a Mercator projection (created in 1569 by Geradus Mercator for navigation). Mercator maps distort land area nearest the poles. A problem when flattening a globe. truesizeofcountries.com

Crazy how recent her act of defiance & arrest was, esp given the current state of affairs. Seventy years seems like a long time, but in relation to history it’s nothing.

Wow! Yay! The Senate just rejected Trump’s proposed science cuts, voting 82–15 to boost funding for NOAA, NASA, and the NSF. The bill already passed the House 397–28. Strong bipartisan support for science still exists.

Why China’s Exploitative Labor System Gives It a Strategic Edge

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

For the first time since 2009, PolitiFact is recalibrating the Lie of the Year — our award for the most egregious falsehood we've seen in a year's worth of fact-checking.

This year, we want to focus less on the offenders who perpetuate the falsehoods, and more on those who are hurt by them. 🧵
